That is about the Java plugin.

The Java plugin doesn't show in the System Details list as installed. You can check the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins" page to see if you have the Java plugin.

You can find the latest 32 bit Java version for Firefox on the Oracle website.

microrobot, I've already tried that; it doesn't help. cor-el, I installed the java plug in, but I still get an error"Your security settings have blocked an untrusted application from running." Here's a screenshot of the details.

When I tried running the Java applet on that webpage, I got a similar error (screenshot attached). Clicking on the More Information link took me to a help article on Java's website: How do I control when an untrusted applet or application runs in my web browser?

If you are sure that you want to run this Java applet, I would recommend that you follow the instructions listed in that article to add theglobeandmail.com to your list of exception sites. However, please exercise caution, as this could be a potential security vulnerability.

Did you restart Firefox after changing the setting? If that doesn't help, you could also try restarting your computer, which I wouldn't think should be necessary but sometimes it helps. Other than that, I really don't have any suggestions, so if you still have the problem, hopefully someone else will be able to provide some ideas.

By viewing the HTML source of the page, I found that the applet is named "ccjava.jar" and resides in http://www.theglobeandmail.com/template/widgets/crossword/view
