Screen is on but doesn't unlock when scrolling to the right. the clock is frozen. I noticed this after switching off the phone and charging it (or was it the other way around?). 1 hour later i stopped charging (from an LG bluray USB port), switch on the device, this is where the bug happened.

Now I can reboot the phone, turn the volume up/down, view the notifications, view the active applications, receive/reject incoming calls. I can start the applications that don't need to have the screen unlocked, for example scrolling left i have the camera, and scrolling down the user data, settings, turn on/off the wifi/3g/blutooth/airplane mode. I know these apps have started in the background because i can see them when i keep the button for 1 second, but when i select one, it goes back to the locked screen. Rebooting the phone, removing the baterry, didn't help. I wanted to see if there is anything more i can do, before reseting to factory defaults.

I don't know if it's related, but before this happens, many times after charging the phone was staying at "ALCATEL" screen and i had to remove and replace the battery to make it boot.

Hi patata,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Alcatel device. I have not encountered this issue in the past, and do not know of possible solutions aside from resetting the device.

You may want to contact the manufacturer's support, since there is a possibility that this is a device-specific issue.

  • Please provide the exact steps to reproduce the issue you are encountering.
  • Where did you purchase your device from?
  • How often do you encounter this issue?

Please be sure to include as much detail as possible, including any websites that may exhibit this issue, and any error messages that you may be receiving, exactly as they appear. This will ensure that we will have all the information needed to investigate into this. Thank you for your help and we look forward to hearing from you!

Hey Ralph,

1) it's an alcatel one touch fire 2) Firefox OS 1.3.0.0 3) The steps are the one described above, plug, unplug, and then i couldn't unlock. I can't remember if the screen was locked or not when i plugged it. 4) From cosmote. When booting the device, it says "cosmote" after the firefox logo. 5) It happened only once (till now).

There are absolutely no error message displayed, and the device doesn't seem to crash. It's just that the lockscreen doesn't unlock, although i manage to activate the applications. I have reset the device earlier today, if it happens again i will write again trying to remember more details.

Sailfish, when my screen is locked, i cannot access my settings or any other application (although they're running in the background).

Hi patata,

Thanks for this additional information.

You mention that you have an Alcatel OneTouch Fire with Firefox OS version 1.3. Is this a custom build that you flashed onto the device, an official manufacturer update, or was the phone purchased with this version already?

I just want to remind that custom builds may have some bugs and issues, since they have not been certified by the manufacturer.

I will be on the lookout in case this issue happens again with this device.

Thanks,

- Ralph

The device has been bought from cosmote store, with 1.1, and automatically updated to 1.3 few days later. Few more days after, this bug happened and i reset the device (power+volume up)

i'm just an average user, but willing to provide feedback that would improve the OS, but I don't know how to flash the device.

All i know is that while booting, there are 4 screens, "alcatel one touch", "Firefox OS", "cosmote ο κόσμος μας εσύ", a different "Firefox OS", and then the "searching for". "cosmote" appears also when shutting down.

I don't know if that means that cosmote flashed the device.

Hi patata,

Thank you for the additional information.

You mentioned that this issue happened only once in the past. Does this mean that you are still unable to access your device? Or did the lockscreen start working correctly after you powered down and then powered on your device again?

Thanks for this information.

Ralph, as mentioned above, i have reset the device the next day the bug happened. I did this with power+volume up.

As i followed sailfish's idea to disable the feature, i cannot tell you if the bug would happen again. I loose my data with reset, and i don't want it to happen again. I hope you understand. If there was a backup option, i would reactivate the automatic lock and see what happens.
