It seems to be related to video playback but not sure. It was happening while a video was playing full screen, and also after stopping playing/hiding a non-full-screen video.

To catch the issue had to screen record at 240fps. I used Nvidia Overlay to record the issue, but was happening before the overlay was even enabled.

Disabled all addons, made no difference. HW acceleration on or off, still happened.

I tried turning on logs, and this always seemed to show up with the flash: ``` 2026-08-09 06:19:44.048000 UTC - [Parent 8388: Main Thread]: D/Widget GetWorkspaceId - calling AsyncUpdateWorkspaceID() 2026-08-09 06:19:44.048000 UTC - [Parent 8388: BackgroundThreadPool #276]: D/Widget calling GetWindowDesktopId 2026-08-09 06:19:44.048000 UTC - [Parent 8388: Main Thread]: D/Widget GetWorkspaceId - calling AsyncUpdateWorkspaceID() 2026-08-09 06:19:44.048000 UTC - [Parent 8388: Main Thread]: D/Widget GetWorkspaceId - calling AsyncUpdateWorkspaceID() 2026-08-09 06:19:44.048000 UTC - [Parent 8388: BackgroundThreadPool #276]: D/Widget called GetWindowDesktopId, hr=00000000 2026-08-09 06:19:44.048000 UTC - [Parent 8388: BackgroundThreadPool #276]: D/Widget calling GetWindowDesktopId 2026-08-09 06:19:44.048000 UTC - [Parent 8388: BackgroundThreadPool #276]: D/Widget called GetWindowDesktopId, hr=00000000 2026-08-09 06:19:44.048000 UTC - [Parent 8388: BackgroundThreadPool #276]: D/Widget calling GetWindowDesktopId 2026-08-09 06:19:44.048000 UTC - [Parent 8388: BackgroundThreadPool #276]: D/Widget called GetWindowDesktopId, hr=00000000 ```

I have three email groups on Comcast.net. To view the members of these groups when using Foxfire, I have to put them into the addressee box. However, if I use MS Edge, I have no trouble viewing them by opening the group using the usual prompt. This has been going on for a long time. I am running Windows 11, but don't know the version of Firefox, just that it has been updated several times since the problem began.

Background: On August 6th morning EST after the August 5 2026 update, attempting to use firefox lead to the window with the "end process" button so I had to close the browser multiple times and then the next time I opened firefox, the bookmarks and history were wiped. I was able to restore using a backup saved on the computer and continue as normal (aside from losing some Cookie Clicker progress, reinstalling Tampermonkey userscripts, and redoing browser extension settings) but now there's an issue with trying to backup firefox data.

Issue: Trying to back up my firefox data leads to a "There was a problem backing up. Try again in a few minutes."

When going to about:config and typing browser.backup.backup-debug-info, I get {"lastBackupAttempt":1786243812,"errorCode":9,"lastRunStep":13}

When looking at Broswer Console, there is an entry saying BackupService: Could not create C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Restore Firefox\desktop.ini: NotAllowedError: Could not write to `C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Restore Firefox\desktop.ini': failed to open file for writing (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED) BackupService.sys.mjs:4116:23 but I don't know how to address that.

Hello! I'm working on migrating a very old version of Firefox to a newer version, and the number one thing I want to make sure stays is the logins file(s). I went to export the CSV, and the `about:logins` page is blank! Despite this, both the key and logins files are populated, and the browser still autofills in each login as if it wasn't there. To mitigate this, I tried to export the .csv of all my logins, but it doesn't actually export. I'm not sure how to check action logs with Firefox, and I would like to grab the passwords, so I can migrate properly. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

TL;DR: I am dumb, but not an idiosyncratic web browser user, and it was too easy for me to accidentally permanently delete all of my browser data. Deleted profiles should be moved into system trash when deleted, not rm'd entirely.

I have never used "profiles" and somehow, after updating firefox, seemed to have created one. I have no interest in using the feature, and therefore went to delete the new profile and disable the feature. Somehow, I instead deleted the profile I had implicitly been using all along. I clicked too hastily through the warning about deleting files, because it simply did not occur to me that deleting something related to this net-new feature should clear all of my *old* data. My goal was to restore the experience I've had in firefox for years (without profiles), but because I failed to adapt to the new feature, I lost everything instead.

I apologize for maybe shouting into the void about this, but I am posting on the off chance that this will reach someone who's involved in the implementation of these features and can save some other dumb person like me from making the same dumb mistake. It's quite painful to suddenly lose years of accumulated bookmarks, extensions, history, etc. The easiest and least intrusive solution would be to always move profiles into system trash when they are deleted, and never permanently delete them.
