Why on earth would you want the history pane to automatically scroll to the very top after clicking on a result??

And no, I am not opening links in a private window.

This is a stupid design flaw that no other browser has, FIX IT MOZILLA.

No one here can change that. You could file an idea on the ideas site (or it may be there already) - Help > Share Ideas and Feedback. You could also file a request for an enhancement on bugzilla.

I don't visit youtube unless I really have to.

That is how it works. If you click a link in the history list to open this link in a tab then a new history item is created and because Firefox only displays the most recent visit then context is lost and Firefox jumps to the top. Like you may have noticed, this doesn't happen in a PB mode window because in PB mode no new history is recorded.

Correct, and I am here complaining about why this is annoying and needs fixed. No other browser does this, and shouldn't need much elaboration on how this is problematic. It seems like the only solution is to install an add on to replace the history side bar all together. Opening links in a private window as a work around to an annoying unwanted behavior is not a permanent fix.

Firefox history in the sidebar and in the Library is dynamic and is updated when you visit a link. You would need a static history list like in a PB mode window or in a bookmarks list. You can create such a static list via Copy/Paste from selected history items to a bookmarks folder.

How does that even qualify as a solution? Creating a "static history list" would require constantly moving results from history to that list in order to rectify this stupid design flaw. The solution is to stop scrolling me to the top of the list every time I click on a result. Any other idea that doesn't address the core problem is just lip service.
