Is there away to either disable themes or add one that reverts to what it was before

Hi Firefox,

I am not a fan of these pre-installled themes. I was given no choice with the update and then found the browser had switched to dark without my asking. I would like to have the same look I had before the change, which was Firefox default.

That's what I am used to and it is disrupting my browsing experience trying to deal with something that looks different, not to mention the frustration of wasting time looking through themes without avail to try and find one that takes to what it was.

So could I ask please can we either have the option to switch themes off and just have things work the way they used to be? Or else maybe an option where we could download and install a theme that is called something like Firefox Classic/Default? If such a thing already exists I would appreciate if someone could point out where to find it.

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open the Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

On the left side of the page, select Appearance or Themes. Then select Default or System theme — auto. Now restart Firefox.

I am sorry. I have no problem following your instructions but in my version of Firefox there is no option anywhere I can find that says Default or System Theme - Auto.

I am using Windows 10. About:addons takes me to Add-ons Manager. There is a scroll-down menu of options for various themes. Enabled, Disabled, Colorways, Recommended Themes and then a button Find More Themes. That's it. There is nothing about default on any of the options on the left hand panel (Recommendations, Extensions, Themes etc). Nor anything when I click on the little wheel at the top.

Can you please recommend what to do from here?

That is odd.

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh).

Then try themes again.

I have done as you suggested but it seems to make no difference. The layout in the Themes section is exactly the same as I reported in my previous reply.

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.
