Slow e-mail deletion returned after restart in safe mode. Norton antivirus e-mail scan disabled, no help. Following safe mode restart it worked for about 2 days.

Allow windows search not checked. However, I noticed many filters instituted by me to weed out unacceptable e-mails. Since I cleared these filters it seems to work better. Sometimes sluggish, but for the most part better.

So it consistently works better when Windows is started in safemode?
In Thunderbird Tools | Options | Advanced | General do you find Allow Windows Search to be enabled? Or disabled?
