Why do the update reminders have to be intruding every half hour during my browsing session?

I do not like being hounded to update my version of Firefox. The blasted reminder windows keep popping up about every half hour or so while I am trying to work, I have had some difficulties because the darn thing popped up in the middle of something important and it caused me to miss something which made me have to start from the beginning and it happened again during the session at a different point. I don't mind if it comes up when i first open my browser, otherwise I will decide if and when I will or won't update. Hounding me only induces me to think about using a different browser. It is very much like having someone in your office shove a pile of papers right on top of the work you're doing then expect you to be pleased about the disruption. I will update or not if I chose. I will not be annoyed into it, i will not be hounded into it, nagged into or otherwise coerced into it. There is almost always a problem with one or more of my add-ons, which are necessary for what I do and until there is a way to make certain that those function correctly with an update, it's very unlikely that I will bother with updating my Firefox. Otherwise I would not remotely consider switching my browser, but the irritation factor is really becoming too much.

I don't know what you're seeing every half hour, but Firefox checks for updates only once every 24 hours, when it is first launched for the day.
