Suddenly all my active addons are showing a suffix of .1-signed. Is this legit?

Hi,

This morning when I opened Firefox, 3 or 4 plugins were updated. One of the plugin updated pages (connected with the Download Statusbar plugin) suddenly switched to a "survey" page that actually turned out to be an advertisement. On realising this, I closed all the open tabs

Now, whenever my plugins get updated, I usually note down the latest version no. So I went to the Add-ons Manager page, where I was surprised to find that the version no. of all my installed plugins had a suffix of .1-signed. For ex, the BitDefender QuickScan plugin that was earlier 0.9.9.142, is now showing as 0.9.9.142.1-signed (please see the attached screenshot)

The ".1-signed" has been added to nearly all of my active add-ons (extensions); however it has not been added to any of the disabled plugins or to any plugin that is incompatible with my current version of Firefox.

Is this sudden addition of ".1-signed" to nearly all my extensions valid and legitimate, or could it be the result of some virus or malware?

Sincerely, Sunil Suresh

Yes. They have decided to sign all extensions that are hosted on the Add-ons website. This is added to the name of the extension to distinguish signed extensions from unsigned extensions.
