my master password is not working, WHY?

Posted

I have been using my master password for quite some time. Today when I put it in it is not working. HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN? I saw the the way to remove it but then I will lose about 28 login ans passwords for all my financial sites. Why is the P/W not working? AND why would you have it if it can FAIL. Is there another way around this besides a total wipe of all my other passwords. I have tried restarting my computer a couple of times to see if it would fix itself but to no avail.

Did you try to close and restart Firefox or reboot the computer to see if that has effect?

What security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

If the MP password isn't working and isn't accepted if you get a prompt to login to the software security device then it is likely that the key3.db file got corrupted or changed to an older version.

Do you have a backup of files in the Firefox profile folder?

thank you, I ran my backup from the beginning of this month and my password worked just fine. I was quite stressed thinking I could not get to my work and all that it would jeopardize.

You're welcome. Glad you were able to fix it with a backup.
