Thunderbird Email Presentation Problem after updating.

After updating to latest Thunderbird, when I display a received message, the "From:" address has my email account and not who it is from; along with a YELLOW Notation ban… (మరింత చదవండి)

After updating to latest Thunderbird, when I display a received message, the "From:" address has my email account and not who it is from; along with a YELLOW Notation band at the bottom of the message that says "A unique identity matching the from address was not found. The message will be sent using the current From field and settings from identity John Kirkpatrick <jpkirkpatrick@earthlink.net...." The email message is then displayed in what appears to be an email missing the Remote Detail. Why is this being done and how can I just get my Normal Email Display back? </p>

Going through every setting I found the hot-keys "CTRL=O" will open the message in a new tab with the normal Remote Information like it used to do before updating. I am unable to set up Thunderbird to use bellsouth.net email. I get username, password, or configuration no good, or something like that, which is basically no help at all. I enter username, email address, and password. It's all good until I press DONE, at which point it "checks password" until the no go message comes up. Win11, new Dell desktop. I can't fix this. I am using Thunderbird version 128.3.1 esr Every time I view an email in the preview pane and start to scroll down, the preview screen jumps back to the top of the email. This happens at least once, and several times in a few emails. Does anyone have an idea what is causing this and/or how to correct it?

I have relied on Thunderbird since Eudora bit the dust, but one aspect that has bugged me(apart from abandoning your beautiful old logo) is the necessity of going through s menu to insert a link. Today, however, when I clicked Insert link nothing happened excerpt that the program hung and I could get out of it only with the Escape key, so there was no way to inert a link. That is the first time it's happened, so I suppose it is a new bug. Please help.

Current OS is Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon, and until October 2024 I've successfully used Thunderbird for years without issue.

I can reliably receive and view messages, but after carefully checking all IMAP & STMP server settings, remain unable to send any outgoing messages for past couple of weeks.

I do not own a mobile phone to be able to receive temporary codes or do any type of two-step authentication.

When attempting to send messages, here are the repeated error messages leading to endless loop that eventually times out:

Login to account "Microsoft" failed Login to server smtp.office365.com with username xxxx@outlook.com failed.

Send Message Error Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.office365.com timed out. Try again.

Send Message Error Sending of the message failed. Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.office365.com. Please check the password and verify the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'.


Current Server Settings:

IMAP Mail Server outlook.office365.com Port 993 xxxx@outlook.com SSL/TLS OAuth2

Default Outgoing Server (Microsoft) smtp.office365.com Port 587 xxxx@outlook.com STARTTLS OAuth2

No so-called 'solutions' that are currently online have any effect. What do you suggest? Thanks!

Happy to announce I reverted back to pre 115 TB (Mac)

Friends: I was running 91.13.1 for the longest time and upgraded to 128 (Nebula) which is a disaster. So many bugs. I kept saying they ruined a great software. E.g., sear… (మరింత చదవండి)

Friends: I was running 91.13.1 for the longest time and upgraded to 128 (Nebula) which is a disaster. So many bugs. I kept saying they ruined a great software. E.g., search was totally broken: take forever and doesn't work. Resizing columns is a pain but I realized 115 was the same way.

Challenge: profile gets upgraded too and can't downgrade. But I pulled out backup of a) program b) profile from backup. Replaced everything except the Mail (and its subfolder Local Folders) Replaced the program to 91.13.1 Worked like a champ ~~ upgraded to 115.12.2 - terrible - nicer UI e.g. resizing but same issues as Nebula described above (with columns, search etc.). ~~ downgraded back to 91 - got the profile back upgraded to 102.13.0 Jul 2023: https://thunderbird.en.uptodown.com/mac/download/104978201 (downloaded from: https://thunderbird.en.uptodown.com/mac/versions) ~~~ The designers of this great software broke the UI after 115. Happy to be back at 91.13.1 and won't upgrade for a loooong time, if ever. Best Regards

No message found

When the Inbox is displayed and I delete one message, suddenly all the messages disappear. In their place is "No message found" even though the upper left of the screen … (మరింత చదవండి)

When the Inbox is displayed and I delete one message, suddenly all the messages disappear. In their place is "No message found" even though the upper left of the screen shows that there are messages in the Inbox. All other folders also appear to have no messages.

The fix is to close and restart Thunderbird, and all messages re-appear. This happens at least once a day.

The program is running on Xubuntu 24.04.1. There are many message filters and the profile is around 7 GB.

Thanks in advance for any suggestion on how to fix. A screenshot is attached.

Hi, I messed up my first email account creation with Thunderbird where I can't see any local emails and my server inbox is now empty (had +200 emails in there). I am in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

Here is what I did: 1- went into my server mail and moved every folder emails into my inbox

2- created my Thunderbird POP3 using the automatic process

   - said to delete emails after being downloaded

3- once created I wanted to create a personnalized folder this account (I have another email to do the same thing). I was pointing to a specific folder before I created a new one: ~/snap/thunderbird/common/.thunderbird/b*.default I pointed it to ~/snap/thunderbird/common/.thunderbird/f*

      • can't remember if these were called profile location or something else. Please explain the purpose of it and when should we need to change it.

4- I went into my mail window and noticed Thunderebird Inbox being empty. I went back to my server inbox and it was also empty. I did not know why nothing was downloaded. I tried using the Get Mail a few times but nothing was happening. Tried to look for Synch something option but could not find any

5- I checked both folders above and saw the default one had tons of stuff why the second one had almost nothing. So I figured that before I had chosen the 2nd folder location, my inbox must have been downloaded into the default one.

6- tried in the console to copy the whole content of the first folder to the second one. I think I restarted at that point, not sure. But in the email list window there was "history.sqlite" listed instead of inbox and "minidumps" below it.

7- I added an import addon, imported the b*.default folder into a 3 one I created, had chosen Offline and restarted. Now in the email window nothing was showing up. I tried Get Mail but it said I needed to get off the Offline mode. I unchecked Working Offline in the File menu but still nothing.

If I do a Thunderbird restart, it asks me which of the 3 profiles I want to start Thunderbird with. If I chose the default one, it shows the history.sqlite and minidumps folders. If I chose the 2nd one I created, it has the same content. If I chose the 3rd one I created with the import, it brings me up to the step where I can create a Thunderbird email account.

Now I have no idea what to do. I still believe all my 200+ emails are in the b*.default folder but how to I switch back to it?

Please tell me I did not loose all those 200+ emails !!!

Unable to access TBird

Following a computer malfunction I lost AT&T email access. Their support restored access which required a password change. Unfortunately, it did restore access for Thunderbird. After several hours of trying various unsuccessful options I deleted and re-installed Tbird. Tbird required a password to access the AT&T server. I entered the AT&T Secure Key and received msg. that Tbird was installed. The Tbird display was exactly like the one I had before re-installing it. There were a few emails displayed along with the Contacts list. However I could not receive or send any emails. I tried entering the Secure Key and the new AT&T password to log in without success. Computer was turned off for the night. On restarting this A.M. the Tbird screen no longer displayed. In its place is the error msg. to check logs or run SXStrace (screen shot attached). Neither option is of any value to me since I do not know how to interpret the information in the log nor do I understand the SXStrace syntax.

      I am able to login to Tbird using  the Secure Key on a different computer.  Tbird will receive but not send emails. 
   I have checked the SMTP setting and it is correct.
