I am running Firefox version 17.0.5 ESR on an IGEL UD9 thin terminal and want to know where I need to change the user.js so I can make my own preference modifications.

user.js doesn't exist, you need to create it.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

Why haven't you updated to the 17.0.11 ESR version or better the 24.4.0 ESR version?
