How do I get rid of Taboola?

How do I get rid of Taboola?

.....  And I'm back;   here's what I found:
Some companies, including  Taboola,  have been   'white-listed'   by   AdBlockPlus.
But users who do not want to see any ads at all can turn off the whitelist feature and block all ads, any time they want. The company provides a list of instructions for different platform opt-outs. AdBlock Plus, which according to Eyeo has been downloaded over 250 million times and has over 50 million active users, also offers an option to whitelist sites its users want to support. Here’s how users who have installed AdBlock Plus can turn off the whitelist feature and block all ads:

On Firefox: Click the AdBlock Plus icon and choose Filter Preferences from the menu. Uncheck “Allow non-intrusive advertising” and you are done.

Hi, sorry to hear you are having a problem; please try working through https://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-taboola-ads/ by Malware Tips.

Note that not all removal programs will detect all malware, so you may need to run several or all of them.

You can also check your Firefox Desktop shortcut for corruption: Right click on it > Properties, and in Target, make sure there is no sign of the malware. If there is, delete that part of it. Or if it's easier, you can just delete it and recreate a new shortcut. More: Wrong home page opens when I start Firefox - How to fix.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!

Hi  again   !
Totally forgot to ask you:   when and where do you see   Taboola   ?

It only shows up on msn.com.

Thank you,   that narrows it down a bit.
Have you, by any chance, checked to see if you could find it in Windows Control Panel  ?
Windows Start > Control Panel > click on 'all categories'   (upper right corner)

There is nothing on my Control panel that says " 'all categories'. This is Windows 10. Thanks for your help.

Sorry,   my mistake:   it doesn't say   'all categories',   but just   'category'
(I have Windows10  too).
Would you try again,   please   ?

Hi again, I'm not sure that the Control Panel will help - Category just changes the view, but I suppose you could look in Programs for any sign of the malware.

Did you run ALL the malware removal programs I linked to, AND checked your shortcut?

Also make sure that pop-up blocker is enabled; Pop-up blocker settings, exceptions and troubleshooting

When you've done the above, delete ALL references to MSN, as shown under the heading 'How do I remove a single website from my history?' in this article - Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox, then try the site (not from an old bookmark) again. Note: It may take a few minutes to complete the deletion.

Not a big problem   ?   I beg to differ;   we've got to nail this culprit and get rid of it   ! So,   hang in there and don't give up yet   !

If you follow the instructions in the malwarebytes guide

That scribe linked to you should be able to successfully remove taboola ads. If that was unsuccessful note it suggests you

  1. Run a system scan with Emsisoft Emergency Kit.
    https://malwaretips.com/blogs/how-to-use-emsisoft-emergency-kit/
  2. Start a new thread in our Malware Removal Assistance forum.
    https://malwaretips.com/forums/malware-removal-assistance.10/

If you do post there please let us have the link.

There is a possibility that the adware has changed and may need slightly different steps to remove it but the malwarebytes experts will be able to check and advise you what to do.

There is of courses the possibility that you do not have adware on your computer but are only seeing adds that are standard on some particular site that you use.

If that is the case then the advise from Happy112 should be followed. Or consider some other adblocker such as ublock origin that may be more effective at stopping such ads.

Note it is usually not a good idea to try to use multiple adblockers at the same time, however you could install two adblockers and only enable one at a time.

Happy112, You are certainly persistent but that seemed to take care of it. Thanks for all of your help.
