I've been searching for three days now for a solution that will work to restore my profile from a crashed windows-7 machine to my new windows-11. Nothing listed in any forum or help desk works as described. I used to be able to just rename the folder to the exact file name on the new PC, but windows 11 won't let me do anything. It always needs admin permissions and even after I activated the admin account and assigned a password, I still cannot copy to the folder or rename the folder. Every attempt to do this on W-11 fails. It shouldn't be that hard and I'm tired of wasting days playing with this. I have important bookmarks, passwords etc. I want restored, and I need help. Nobody wants to pick up a phone anymore to assist!

I have never used "sync" because I have multiple PCs and each used for different applications and yes some go back to W-7, the operating system that actually worked well. Each PC has Firefox and a distinct bookmark file.

I went to "about:profiles" and created a new profile thinking I could copy to the new folder, but when i switched profiles I couldn't get back to the original default! HELP!

ello. My favorites have disappeared from my Windows 11 PC. It has happened once before and then I was able to get them back by deleting the sqlite file, now it doesn't work and I need your help with ending firefox processes etc.

I am at a complete loss on this. A recent firefox update has shifted all my site logins and passwords elsewhere in mystery and impossible to recover nor find them. I tried "Restore bookmarks, passwords and data from an old Firefox profile" but the profile is simply not there and the instructions completely haywire. I have nothing on the profile page. What have you lot done to make this completely unusable for the small person ? I thought I was computer savvy but now firefox is making things unnecessarily invisible and over-complex.

I restarted my computer and now I cant access anything from my old account. I used my same email account as before. what do I do I lost eveything

Installed to new system because old system was updated to Win11 and it failed. Old system is only partially operable. Trying to copy (export and import html files) of the bookmarks to the new system, but even though the import seems to have worked, I cannot get the program to show the bookmarks correctly (or at all). They appear in the Manage Bookmarks window but will not appear on the desktop view. What am I doing wrong? When I import them, I select the All Bookmarks item to copy to but it copies everything to the Bookmarks Menu folder.

My Firefox app was crashing, so I turned off my computer. When I turned it on, Firefox was completely reset: no profile, app initialization... I also cannot find my profile into my files.

My wife's old Windows 10 HP laptop quit working last week do to some Operating System failure while it was trying to do an update. It finally did a reboot and now it is useless, at least as it is! It will NOT complete the boot process after trying all of the options offered. All that I am able to is exit out of Windows to a "DOS prompt." I am able to get to the Mozilla Firefox folder and others contain within. The new Windows 11 laptop I bought her is working fine with a fresh Firefox browser installed about a week ago. What she wants is her web links, settings and saved passwords "copied" from the old laptop and installed on the new one! We have no idea how many there are to retrieve! I'm hoping that there might only be one folder that I can copy via "command line" prompt to a USB drive and move the file(s) to the new laptop the same way. Can anyone tell me what I need to know? Hello! Is it possible to recover older open tabs from a broken device that had sync activated? For a while they appeared in the hamburger menu in the top right, but now they suddenly disappeared, and under the "connected devices" I cannot click the device or anything. It went broken 2-3 months ago. Best wishes!

Lost all tabs during an update including(weirdly) all theme stuff. Its not in the restore in history. But the themes part is the one that is strange, because why would themes change during an update, all while all my tabs are lost?

You forced an update and all my open tabs vanished into thin air. I was working with those!!!

I tried to follow the history recover path, no-go. I tried the json file path and can't get Firefox to open the tabs in the json recovery file from a month ago, not that that would be helpful anyway since I want yesterday's before the update!

Now I gotta spend a lot of time finding those scientific papers again - should charge you my hourly rate for wasting my time.

It's sh.it programming that's what it is. Bet you they were using AI to do the update.

Well never mind, I've grown tired of Firefox anyway since it just starts using 80% of my RAM when I have more than 10 tabs open. There's other browsers.

Yesterday, possibly related to updating to version 148, my profile completely disappaered. My old profiles are not visible under about:profiles, but are present on disk. They can not be imported with firefox -P. How do I get my profile data back?

I had a catastrophic failure of my desktop computer. They were unable to recover over half my files. My bookmarks in Firefox had links to several critical business pages and I really need to get them back however I have been unable to access them or recover them. Is there any way for these to be recovered if the backup wasn't on? I know its a long shot but I have to ask.

After the last update - all my 12 years of data is gone? No bookmarks or anything? No warning to do a backup? That's ridiculous guys. The only option you provided me with is 32 character recovery key I set up in 2022? Well I dont have it. Can't recover it. And if you don't intend to assist in some way - it's Game Over Firefox for me!
