Hi, helpers! I'm running Tbird 78.8.1 on a new, up-to-date Mac running the latest Big Sur.

I had to wipe my previous computer (long story) and I was careful to export the file containing my old Tbird emails to Dropbox. On the new Mac, I'm using Mac Mail.

I'd like to: 1. import those emails to Mac Mail, OR - if that turns out to be impossible, 2. import them into Tbird on this new computer.

To save the emails before I wiped the old computer, I looked up the instructions and exported the email archive from my profile. The file is named "ymm1vh1i.default". From there I can drill down to: /data reporting/archived/ to two folders, labeled 2021-02, and 2021-03. The first of those contains 27 files; the second, 5 files. All those files end in .jsonlz4. They can't be opened by anything on the Mac.

Can I retrieve those files with either Mac or Thunderbird? And - gawd, I hope the answer isn't "yes" - does this mean there are only 32 saved emails, total?

I want to import a Gmail Mbox file to Mozilla Thunderbird. I have tried it on several ways:

1) Via ImportExportTools NG 2) Via a feed solution.

The Mbox file is imported correctly, but I can only see the from and date information. Unfortunately the Subject and imported email is empty.

Could someone please help me out, thanks.

Thunderbird receives email into wrong inbox

I use Thunderbird with 4 email accounts. All use IMAP. I have three usernames, let us use name1 and name2 and name3, and 3 providers, let us use prov1 and prov2 and prov3… (மேலும் படிக்க)

I use Thunderbird with 4 email accounts. All use IMAP. I have three usernames, let us use name1 and name2 and name3, and 3 providers, let us use prov1 and prov2 and prov3. My email accounts, therefore, are name1@prov1.com, name2@prov1.com, name1@prov2.com, and name3@prov3.com. Provider 3 is hosted at gmail.com. Accounts name1@prov1.com, name2@prov1.com, and name1@prov2.com all work as expected. Each of these accounts sends and copies outbound mail to their respective sent folder and receives inbound mail to their respective inbox. While name3@prov3.com sends and copies outbound mail to its sent folder, inbound mail is inexplicably directed to the inbox of name1@prov1.com! Mail does not even briefly flicker in Gmail. I can manually move an email to the proper account in Thunderbird but that is incomplete. The mail disappears from the account in Thunderbird but the IMAP server at prov1 retains a copy that no longer replicates to Thunderbird. The mail, when moved in Thunderbird to the correct account, places the mail in the correct account in Thunderbird and places the mail on the IMAP server of Gmail. How do I get Thunderbird to receive mail for name3@prov3.com in the correct inbox?

Unable to receive email from att.net

Recently I was required to change my password for my att.net account (sbcglobal.net email). After that I cannot receive emails from that account. Thunderbird is able to retrieve emails from my google email, but not the att.net account. I keep receiving the attached message.

I have tried resetting the password under "Saved Passwords" without success. I have verified using the same incoming and outgoing server as before. Also tried going back to att.net and changing the password back to the original without success. When I contacted ATT they seemed to indicate that the server settings were correct. I even tried to remove the account and entering it again in Thunderbird.

There is a lot of useful information available that users have submitted, however with my limited understanding the suggestions haven't solved the problem. It seems that the problem is with the account settings within Thunderbird, but can't seem to find it. Any help would be appreciated.

I sometimes have people tell me that my e-mails have reached them too late, e.g. today my colleague sent an e-mail at 13.36 and it arrived at 15.31. The same with receiving: some time ago I clicked a "forgot your password" link and it took 24 hours before I got the automatic e-mail to change my password. I had it on my work e-mail in Thunderbird as well that people asked me "have you received my message yesterday?"

I use several e-mail addresses (of different hosts) in Thunderbird and for my work e-mail, I already checked with the host and the problem is not with them, so I think it has to be Thunderbird.

It's definitely not on all e-mails, so I think that it happens when Thunderbird doesn't succeed in sending it immediately. Once there is a delay, the delay is simply too long or something?

Cannot Send Email from Two Newly Created Accounts

I just secured two email addresses from a well known internet domain registrar and web hosting company. These addresses are derived from a .com domain I had previously secured through them but which I have not yet activated online. This hosting company uses Microsoft Outlook as its email service.

I carefully followed the Thunderbird process I found online for setting up the two email addresses (accounts) on my 78.9.1 version. Actually, it was pretty easy, with Thunderbird presumably pulling up the necessary information based on the email addresses. To check functionality in both send and receive, I sent test emails from an old, longstanding email address to the two new ones and emails from the two new addresses to the old address.

The new addresses received the emails just fine, but the “send” tests didn’t work. I got this pop-up in both cases:

Log in to account “Office365 (Microsoft)” failed. Log in to server smtp.office365.com with username [xxxxx@xxxxxxxxxx.com] failed. Retry Enter New Password Cancel

In each case, I clicked the “Enter New Password” button and got this pop-up:

Password Required for Outgoing (SMTP) Server smtp.office365.com. Enter your password for [xxxxx@xxxxxxxxxx.com] on smtp.office365.com: [Field for entering password.] □ Use Password Manager to remember this password.

I carefully entered the account password for each and checked the box; neither worked. I tried over again, this time not checking the box; no luck. Trying this email-sending process twice more produced the same lack of success. I then closed Thunderbird, waited awhile, restarted it, and tried again. Same thing.

On a Microsoft site, I found that they recommend port 587, but in checking what was automatically assigned by Thunderbird in both cases, it was port 995. I changed both ports to 587, but it didn’t help, so I returned them to 995, which was identified as “default” anyway.

Also, I have had no Thunderbird upgrade recently.

I’d certainly appreciate some help. It’s probably obvious, and if so, I’ve missed it entirely.

TB Pop not downloading Gmail that was autoforwarded from another Gmail

G1 is running on TB and Android. G2 is set to autoforward everything to G1.

On Android if I send from G1 to G2, TB on my Mac Pop downloads that message from G2.

If I sent on Mac TB from G1 to G2, (G2 then forward to G1 and it is ignored by G1 on webmail because it's duplicate (in sent items already), TB on Mac does NOT download the item from G1 because I guess somehow it knows TB was used to send the same to G2. I don't want TB to be so smart - it defies its purpose.

Any thoughts? Thanks a lot

When I try to start Thunderbird nothing happens on my screen. Thunderbird is shown in Windows Task Manager and is using CPU and Memory, so it is running. But it does not open a window. It does not matter how many times I try to start Thunderbird, nothing happens. And then suddenly, poof!, the window opens while I am doing something else. This has been going on for months. I have kept a log. I cannot find any consistency in why Thunderbird starts but doesn't open. I have tried closing all other programs but can find no conflicts. I have deleted parent.lock - that does not help. At the moment Thunderbird is running but there is no parent.lock file I have uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird twice. Current version 78.6.0 (32 bit) I have read this forum. I have run out of ideas.

Even after following the help instructions I cannot delete messages. Even after a complete reinstallation of Thunderbird I cannot delete messages. I can move them to other folders, but not to the Trash folder. I deleted Trash and trash.msf in my profile folder and created an new folder Trash. After restarting Thunderbird and looking at the profile folder there was automatically created a trash.msf. But - I cannot delete messages as before. Meanwhile there are a lot of messages I want to delete. What can be done? I would prefer to use thunderbird further instead of changing teh mail service if that problem can be resolved.

Hi there and thanks for your time. I really need your help: I can't set up my @me.com mail on Thunderbird. I can do it on Outlook but, with the same configuration, the mail doesn't connect to Thunderbird. I follow the Apple instruction about the server set up, I even try all the other options just to be sure! But still I can't solve this issue: the response is always "Unable to connect to the server".

This is the set up I manually configurate on Thunderbird: inbox server: imap.mail.me.com - ssl port 993 - username: my username - password: since I have the 2factor autentication, I generate a specific app password from my Apple ID. outbox server: smtp.mail.me.com port 587 (I tried SSL, but even TLS and STARTTLS) - username and password: as here above.

As I said, to be sure I'm not wrong with something, I tryed the same configuration on Outlook, and over there I can connect easily. But I want and need to use Thunderbird, not Outlook!!

Can you please help me to sort it out somehow? I even ask help to th Apple Support Center, but obviously they told me to ask you, since for them this is a third party application.

     I am using thunderbird with pop3 settings. recently i can't able to read my inbox messages and i cant get messages in inbox so i configured my account in outlook to view upcoming inbox mails our mail server crashed on november 2020 we cant retrive previous messages i can only map with mail server from november 2020 but now i need 2019 messages please help me to get those messages and help me to view inbox.

How do I disable the ANNOYING message box I get every time I want to send a message to the trash folder. Thunderbird keeps asking me if I want the message deleted to save disk space. This just started in the past week. I want my deleted messages to go to the trash folder and I will manage that folder. I can't seem to find anything in settings that lets me disable this option.

My PC has just been updated (a forced Microsoft process) to Windows 10, meaning I can no longer send/receive emails in Microsoft Essentials Live Mail from my BT.com account. I have stored a lot of important emails in Live Mail (no longer on the server). Does Thunderbird run in Windows 10? Can I export email accounts from Live Mail to Thunderbird? Can I export the archived emails from Live Mail to Thunderbird?
