Since my original posting https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/997009 was closed because one of the moderators felt it was going off-topic (although it was red a lot and had 131 "have-this-problem" in just a few days), here a kind of re-opening but on-topic.
Why? Because I feel we have the right to express our feelings on this major change. And publicly there is actually only this forum where that can be done on the Mozilla.org domain.
Sure, the change is there and we have to live with it (if we choose to). But that doesn't mean we can not have our voice here because after many, many years of supporting FF with our use, we suddenly are facing a layout we were always running away from.
So yes, that can cause ranting and so on (within the forum rules of course) because people feel strongly about there beloved browser.
(edit rules link note the whole topic is ordinarily outside the scope of the forum ... Posts in the Mozilla support forum must be either questions about the use of Firefox, ... Users who post about things other than Mozilla support will be directed to an alternative discussion place .... . ~J99)
Plus this way you can centralize all the negatives here instead of a lot of separate postings about the same subject ;)
To the people reacting here in this topic: there is only 1 real way to let Mozilla itself know how you feel on the new lay out and that is not through this forum. The way is to go to https://input.mozilla.org/feedback/ and let it know there.
edit You need to use a supported Firefox to post Feedback so that will soon not be possible from Fx28 2nd edit. I was wrong feedback works with any version of Fiefpx now~J99
And I think when that is done in normal words (so no f*ck you rants and so on) and suggestions, then maybe, just maybe, it has some effect.
Also, there is an Mozilla support page with info on how to get the "old look" back, see How to make the new Firefox look like the old FirefoxBut it will only partly restore the old look, certain FF29 things can not be changed.
And yes, I myself am back to Firefox 28 which is not supported or suggested by Mozilla because it has things (bugs and security) that are not fixed in it. (Edit Please use Official downloads if you must downgrade links in Install an older version of Firefox and the growing list of exploits you will open yourself up to is listed here: https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox.html ~J99)
I am not suggesting or advertising to others to do the same. It is a risk I am willing to take and only say it is an option.
edit My reason to go back to FF 28 is because that version still has the intuitive feel and look Firefox one was praised for. With a logical lay out and a good way to simply customize it (also in about:config).
For those who say/think "Come one man, stop whining! Grow up and just accept that Firefox has to go with its time!", to them I say: nope ;)

For example, I used to just type 'test' into the search bar and the tab would show a list of Google searches. Two words work though. Any and all help would be deeply appreciated. I've tried Search Reset, changing the keyword and fixup in about:config.

Hi, Since yesterday (August 19, 2016) Netflix stop working and I get a message at the top of the page saying "Firefox is installing components needed to play audio or video, please try again later". I just called Netflix support and they say that recently they stop using Silverlight and moved to HTML5, they advised me to update Firefox to the latest version, I was running on 47.0.1 but now after installing the update I'm running on 48.0.1 but still get the same error message. I can watch Netflix with Internet Explorer but not with Firefox anymore! For years was working fine I am wondering what's going on, can you help?

Good morning, I listen to live audio from http://wmmr.com/shows/preston-and-steve/ every morning This morning it did not play audio even though it appears to be coming into my PC, (see attached) there is no sound Every other link from the website works fine, youtube.com works fine, windows sounds work fine. Just this live stream stopped playing audio through FireFox. Works fine in other browsers (IE, Chrome, etc). Please help

Unable to check Plugins since updating to 35.0

When I go to "Tools" then click on "Add-Ons" then click "Plug-Ins" and then click on "Check To see If Plug-Ins Are Up To Date" it goes to Mozilla Check Your Plug in Page all it does is sit and spin at the "Checking with Mozilla on the status of your plugins." I am using Win7 Pro and just downloaded Firefox update to 35.0.

I recently noticed a new pocket button in nightly, and I was wondering what this is. From bugzilla, it seems there is a project to integrate pocket with firefox, but I have a few questions about it:
- why is this being done/why is it replacing the (now unavailable) firefox reading list?
- Is mozilla being compensated by pocket or anyone else for this?
- Who stores the data: mozilla, pocket, or someone else?
- is there an option to disable this?

I have used Firefox for many years and am always current, as I am with Windows 10, but the last few updates have caused major problems:
1. At times I get a red screen Firefox Critical Error which usually locks up my PC. Sometimes I can free it up with Cntl/Alt/Del, but sometimes I cannot even shut down, have to physically unplug the PC. The screen says to call a phone number for Microsoft support, but this is a 3rd-party company selling software which has somehow compromised Firefox. I reported this before but no one seems to be doing anything about it.
2.Although I have checked Block pop-up windows under Permissions, I now get suspicious pop-up windows the first time I click on many web pages. If I immediately close these, I can then use the page fine. Is there something else I need to do to block these pop-ups?

I am so seriously pissed off with Mozilla Firefox, not just because of the new design but the complete lack of respect for your users.
I got a message saying that there was an important security update, it did NOT NOT NOT warn me that it intended to install a completely redesigned application.
Have you guys heard of change control management?
I am in the middle of working and I spend 15 hours a day online, now i have to figure out this AWFUL user interface.
I guess this is what you get when you have a bunch of amateurs developing software.
So what was it, did not one person in Mozilla figure NOT out that you need to tell users that an upgrade includes a serious change in UI or worse still did you know and think FFF..orget them we will just do it and tell them it is a security update.
Rather than creating this terrible user interface you should have focused on the biggest problem with Firefox MEMORY and CPU usage with the ability of users to figure out which tab is using memory or CPU,
If I had wanted a Google Chrome clone I would have installed Google Chrome, but I hate the Chrome interface. Do you not know that Google are the worst company in the world at designing a UI, their email is rubbish, the new adwords Keyword Planner should be used in schools and colleges as a "how NOT to design software"
What pisses me off is that you have the arrogance to think that you can just bulldoze over your userbase. If I were local I would come to your office ask which bright spark was in charge of this and punch them in the face.

I do not want to have to install an old version, I have a lot invested in my Firefox user interface which has been completely screwed up by this update. In addition to this I can't move the address bar and put it next to the menu and I can't move the tabs below the menus and toolbars.
You have also screwed up my colorful tabs which I need because of sight issues.
THIS IS MY DESKTOP do not DICTATE how I layout my screen!!

In future can you PLEASE respect your users by doing the following:
1. Do NOT install UI changes without informing the user and giving them a choice 2. ALWAYS include a feature to stick with the old UI 3. Allow users to stick with the old UI and still get REAL security updates.

Each time I start Firefox I get a warning pop-up from malwarebytes advising me of an outbound request from Firefox to a malicious site "bestwaytosearch.com". I have checked the home page settings and reset it, checked the search engines along with add-in and extensions. I have also cleared the history and browsing cache but just can not get rid of it.
Yes I can exclude it but that would only mask the problem.

Today (Oct. 14, 2017) I could not get Firefox to start. I am loath to reinstall Firefox from a download source because it will, in all likelyhood, result in losing all my windows and tabs in use when I last closed it. And, there is no guarantee that the new install will recognize my bookmarks.

Hello everyone
I think that recently I had to update Flash version and it was all okay even after the update. But yesterday videos on YouTube all of a sudden stopped displaying. Just like that, in the morning they were okay and then around of noon, all of sudden blank. Didn't install anything new or something.. now I only get White screen with no any border, just an empty spot where the video should be. Beside that, any other flash content [i.e. videos on Facebook, vimeo are not displaying as well]. All I get on YouTube is constant "loading" indicator beside the cursor which keeps blipping.
Now the strange thing is first - I have no problems with this on other browsers like i.e. Google Chrome, and second.. IF I uninstall Flash from my PC, I can watch YouTube videos on Mozilla although the max resolution is 720p.. and vimeo/facebook videos will still not work. How da heck is that even possible? O.o
I've tried a lot of different things and nothing helped.. here are some of the them [I hope I won't forget something]
- Uninstalling Mozilla/Flash then installing them again - Uninstalling Flash, then letting Mozilla suggest me to add it - Disabling/Deleting all of my extensions - Turning off that hardware acceleration thingy - Deleting cookies from YouTube then adding them to exceptions - Clearing out whole history/cache or whatever - Right clicking on the "empty space" where video should be.. to see if any options will pop-up [Of course they don't, there is no video to start with] - Scanning for viruses [Nothing]
Can anyone please help me? Any suggestion, what can I do?

Clicking the above link in FF47 has normally displayed until not long ago a list of my e-mail clients present on my Win 10 Pro 64-bit PC. In the list, Thunderbird (my default) was highlighted. After confirming it, Thunderbird (v. 42.2) was launched with the intended URL (of the given Web page) in the e-mail body. This was what I wanted. Several days ago, the e-mail link stopped working and it does not do anything any longer although it behaves (in the toolbar) as "live" (not "dead") icon. I am an advanced user but cannot find out or figure out what has happened and how to restore its previous normal functionality. Let me add that I have quite a number of add-ons in FF, some of which I have added recently (they are all related to security). Please, advise what should be done to solve my problem. Thank you for your attention.
