My understanding is when silent print is enabled by print.always_print_silent, browser will take default printer.here default printer value get from print_printer. if print_printer value is empty , it will take from system default printer. so if i change the default printer dynamically , browser will automatically detects the printer. I am a university professor. All of my classes use Canvas software. After last week's Firefox update, none of the embedded figures on my course pages appear - only their file name. They are showing up just fine in Chrome, so I know that the problem is somehow connected to Firefox. They also disappeared immediately after the last update.

My students and I need to be able to see the images...and I don't want to uses Chrome. I would like to know how to either return Firefox to its previous version or have the new version somehow corrected so that it gets along with Canvas.

Thank you.

There is a certain website that I have to visit often. I usually type the first few letters of the URL into search bar but, annoyingly, there's another website with almost exactly the same URL. Firefox always autofills the wrong URL and I always end up getting directed to the wrong site. Is there a way to prevent firefox from autofilling that URL and change it to the correct one?

FireFox Networking guidance on routing and network interface selection

Hi all,

I am working on a study project around mitigation strategies to protect against man in the middle attacks and would like some advice around how FireFox deals with detecting a new network adapter and an update of routes on the local host whilst FireFox is running.

My study project involves connecting a small (malicious) device that configures ethernet over USB, this device also runs a web server, a DHCP server and a DNS server to essentially perform a man in the middle attack. When the device is connected a DHCP address is issued to the ethernet over USB device and the subnet mask on the victim is set to route all ipv4 addresses to the malicious device, the device also spoofs all DNS queries on the fly to route to the device this ensures that all traffic is routed to the device.

This ultimately provides a method for any HTTP request from the browser to hit the device, the device responds with html content containing a malicious script. Many websites frequently make HTTP requests without intervention, such as an advert, and so this attack can run automatically.

For my testing I have used a range of browsers and in each scenario I open 2 tabs, one standard http page and another http page that has an auto refresh capability built in via refresh javascript to refresh the page every 60 seconds. I set up the two tabs and leave them open, then plug in my device. In the case of Internet explorer, Chrome, Edge and Safari the man in the middle attack works automatically without any issues. But for FireFox it does not, the web page continues to refresh as normal even though the local OS thinks that the device is where the website resides. I can confirm this by using ping, looking at local routes and running wireshark, in the case of Firefox even after connecting the device I can see all HTTP requests still run over the wireless interface. I check FireFox developer and also disable cache. Yet in all other browsers the http request runs over the device I connect and all http traffic ceases to run over the wireless interface. If I manually refresh the page or open a new http page in FireFox the traffic routes to the device. If I set Firefox to offline and then online whilst leaving the auto refresh page open the HTTP request will route over the device, so this to me seems like some sort of caching.

I have tested this on 2 x Macbooks and Windows 7 (testing only :-)) and Windows 10 and have the same result.

To try and resolve I have turned off DNS prefetch and also looked at the network settings and changed each proxy option, currently I have it set to no proxy. I also searched for similar articles and read this article, which is seemingly relevant but did not solve my specific use case. https://daniel.haxx.se/blog/2014/09/26/changing-networks-with-firefox-running/

I am not interested in a fix, but I am interested to understand why this happens and if this is actually a specific feature within FireFox and any other useful information around this specific scenario.

Thanks a lot for reading

Hi. I've been using Multi Account Containers for a few months. Also the Facebook container and First Party Isolation.

I have a couple of problems:

1. It seems to be impossible to "stay logged in" to different sites. For example, I have a container for Apple iCloud. But I still have to log in every time including the two factor phone authentication and indicating I trust the browser. Why is that?

2. Even when I invoke, "Reopen in no container" there still seems to be a container. Ideally, I'd like to be able to indicate to never use a container for iCloud for example.

3. Containers seem to break paying with PayPal for some sites. Or it could be the First Party Isolation stopping the sharing of information.

I do like using containers for sites like Google but ultimately, they may be more trouble than they're worth.

I am horrified at your abandonment of the master password. The political correctness is off the charts at Mozilla. You destroyed a great browser, and people are turning away from your leftist derangement syndrome. Here's what elimination of things with the word MASTER in them does:

A young boy can no longer be addressed by the title MASTER as in Master Lord Fauntleroy.

Well-known and brilliant pianists and other world-renown musicians can no longer give MASTER CLASSES to students.

The circuit breaker in your electric box that shuts off your home's power completely can no longer be called the MASTER BREAKER.

The company called MASTER LOCK must close its doors or declare bankruptcy.

Chess aficionados with the highest of world rankings can no longer be called grand MASTERS.

A criminal or civil court can no longer rely upon the expertise of Special MASTERS.

The MASTERS Golf Tournament needs to be terminated.

Masters University in Santa Clarita, CA must be closed forever.

Masters degrees in all disciplines must be eliminated. You go for the Ph.D., or you get nothing and like it.

If you want the very best bottle of wine for that special anniversary, forget getting advice from a MASTER sommelier.

Want a pair of the very best concert tickets....forget it, no Ticket MASTERS.

Garage door broken? No more Lift-MASTER!

Want a professional Barbecue grill...no more MASTER-built stainless grills.

Destroy your brand new Sony MASTER SERIES flat screen TV with a ball peen hammer. It's racist.

Better move your bed into the kid's bedroom; No more MASTER bedrooms.

Forget being able to stop your car; we need to get rid of the brake system's MASTER Cylinder.

No more Cooler-MASTER Intel I7 and I9 processor fans. Video game freaks, no more overclocking!

Only jacks-of-all-trades need apply, no MASTERS of ONE permitted!

DO YOU LEFTIST SEE HOW STUPID THIS IS?

I am black, and even I think you people are SICKOS!!!!!!!

How to Undo Firefox: "Remember this Decision" for Digital Certificate

Hi, I'm trying to access a Spanish government website which requires me to have a certain digital certificate imported into my computer in order to identify myself. However I made a mistake and don't know how to reverse it:

To explain what happened, when I went to the website sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/infoext2 to check on the status of a Spanish document, and clicked on the "consultar con cl@ve" button (cl@ve is the Spanish government's user authentication system), I was prompted with a window that asked me which digital certificate I wanted to use for the website. ('m attaching a picture of the prompt to this post)

Unfortunately, I accidentally hit the cancel button, with the checkbox checked saying "recordar esta decision" ("remember this decision" in English) , so now every time I go to this website, it doesn't let me present the digital certificate, it just says there's a user identification error with cl@ve (I think it's "remembering" to automatically cancel my ability to present a certificate every time I go to the website time now).

Do you know how to undo the "recordar esta decisión" ("remember this decision" in English) checkbox so that I can make the decision again and choose to present my certificate? I tried clearing my browsing data from the previous 2 hours but it didn't seem to help.

Let me know what you think and thank you in advance.

Also, the version of the browser this happened on was Firefox 68.12, as the Spanish government insists that only old browsers will support their authentication system.

I'm using a "feature" in Firefox that allows me to select my Firefox profile on startup (by adding -ProfileManager to the target value). This way I can choose between my "home" aka "default-release" and "work" profiles.

Now my issue is that every time I open my work (non-default) profile, I have to login to services like Gmail all over again! Firefox won't save my login information for the work profile similar to the default-release profile. I have back-up and sync set-up on both profiles. So why does this happen?

Testing Accessibility Keyboard Only Navigation on Firefox - We are building accessible sites but have problems navigating using 'keyboard only' commands on a Mac. The commands work fine on Safari but leave you stuck on links or buttons when using Firefox? Have always found Firefox and viewing websites generally to work very well on a Mac with few exceptions (often better than Safari), but Accessibilty seems to be a problem? Not sure if this is a caching issue or a Firefox issue?

After entering the Web Content (control+option+shift+down arrow), we are unable to tab past (control+option+right arrow) the 'Skip To Main Content' link, or select the link (control+option+space bar), when in Voiceover on the Mac (Mojave) using Firefox (81.0 64-bit). This works fine in Safari?

Any helpful comments would be great.

I have more than 14000 files in the directory in ....\Firefox\cache2\entries and I would like to get rid of them. The large number of files in this directory impacts my disc performance, e.g. during backup or virus scanning. I have tried to clear cache and history in the options menu, but the files stay there. The files date from one week ago back to approximately one year ago. Can you give some advice, what these files are used for an how I can remove them ? Thanks
