I have a Linux PC where, when I right-click, I see shortcut letters in the context menu (the one that appears when you right-click). So, if I want to inspect an element, I right-click on it and press Q, and the inspector opens right away. This saves me time from navigating through the menu. However, on my other MacOS PC with Firefox, it doesn't do the same. I've searched for solutions but haven't found any.

Firefox does not seem to be properly configured for Wayland on KDE Plasma 6.x systems. The generic "Wayland" logo appears in task switcher instead of the Firefox logo. Hi! Since lately (can't pinpoint it precisely), I have the following problem: Whenever I click on a mailto url, it opens Thunderbird but inserts the mail with three leading slashes.

These are not present in the url itself and also I don't get them when I right click -> copy mail address. From Gnome Web or Chromium, this does not occur.

I'm on Firefox 132.0 and Fedora 41. If you need more information, I will happily provide them.

Best regards, Carroll

Hi,

just for understanding:

Why can the Firefox source code (view-source) of a website be nearly three times the size compared with Chrome/Opera or when I save the Firefox source code marked and copied and then pasted and saved via an editor?

Example: Firefox 546,6 KiB Chrome/Opera 204,3 KiB via Editor 204,3 KiB (marked and copied Firefox source code)

i was using firefox with multiple tabs for most of today, had to shut pc down to run errands. When i restarted pc, firefox would not start, i have it pinned on my task bar/start menu/whatever. I opened my system moniter to see what was going on when i tried to start firefox and the processes do not show up in the process list. I tried a reinstall with the ubuntu software store and no noticeable change in behavior. Not sure how to get into the profile section, the option for it with a right click on the firefox icon does nothing seemingly. Under normal operations i have seen two firefox processes listed.

Firefox suddenly stopped playing audio on all web-sites.

I've checked the autoplay settings, refreshed, re-installed with no joy. All OK in google-chrome. Is there a more obscure setting that might affect audio?

I was recently looking through suggestions that Firefox automatically gives me when clicking on search or login input fields on different websites. I noticed that they seem to be consistent even after reinstalling my browser or system, as long as I log into my Mozilla account (even though I have completely removed all my stored passwords from Firefox, and disabled the feature that stores them). I also noticed that I accidentally put an important password in the suggestions, and I would love to remove it somehow. I read in the help articles that the arrow keys and then shift+delete might work, but as soon as I press the arrow keys, the whole suggestion list gets covered by suggestions from the Bitwarden extension. It would be nice if that could be prevented somehow, and if there was a clear graphical way to remove the suggestions, perhaps a trash can icon on the right side?

I am running Firefox 132.0.2 on Pop_OS, using Gnome. I have a dual monitor setup, with my leftmost monitor being a 1080p set as portrait, and my main being a 4K set as landscape.

Every time I open Firefox, the window is exactly 1080 pixels large, no matter what I do. I can of course resize it, but it's frustrating having to do that every time.

If I tell Gnome that my secondary monitor is on the RIGHT side of my primary, everything works perfectly: Firefox stays the size it is when I close it.

It seems that Firefox uses my leftmost monitor's size to determine the maximum windows width, and even overwrites my xulsettings.json every time I close it.

I tried different builds, and even different forks suck as librewolf: no difference. I can´t of course change the position of how my monitors are placed on my desk.

Any ideas?

I just set up a server with linux Ubuntu 24.04 Desktop, with Firefox 129.0.2 included to do some dev and testing work.

Problem: Firefox seems unable to see or open files that are above or outside the user's home dir tree.

The only extra packages installed are the LAMP stack and Google Chrome, which has no problem. (had to have something for A/B testing.)

I've tried entering the url of file:///var/www/index.html, I've tried selecting 'open with...' from the files app, etc. Nothing works.

I can get to the file through http://localserver/index.html with no issues. I've verified permissions on the entire directory tree to the file. Everything from end to end has read permissions for all, 755.

I've checked the following advanced settings: security.sandbox.content.level..............................0 (started at 4, now at 0, no effect or change.) security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy.........................false (default setting as installed.)

I am able to open file:/// and get a dir listing. BUT, if I click on var, it gives "Access to the file was denied." I even tried changing the permissions on /var to 777, but no change.

This seems to be a Firefox only problem, since Google Chrome works where firefox doesn't.

I've spent several hours searching for ways to fix this, all with no success. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this, or even what to look at???

Sometimes drag functionality stops working. I can't grab a tab to move it to another position or to a new window. (Holding left click on the tab and moving the cursor does nothing). Also, re-merging the tab with another firefox window stops working. (Dragging a tab to a firefox window from another firefox window doesn't merge them. It does nothing) I can right click on the tab and select Move to move it to a new window but dragging stops working. I have to close Firefox and start it again (sometimes twice), then dragging starts working again. This happens multiple times a day. I am on Linux Mint and the version is 126.0 (64-bit). This problematic behavior has only recently began.

When I go to about:logins, I see none of the accounts listed. Even when I input a search in the search box, nothing. I don't know what could be causing this. See attached screenshots. Don't worry, there's no concern of leaking account details, because they aren't showing up.

Ubuntu 22 LTS, Firefox 131.0.3 (64-bit). My machine crashed last night, but when I booted it this morning to start figuring out what's wrong all my windows/tabs came up. (I have at least 6 windows (for organization of my) hundreds of tabs.) After 6 or so reboots (testing various usb device plug-in configurations) I'm finally done, but now only have 1 blank firefox window. I created an account for syncing so I wouldn't have to redo all that when I upgrade OS periodically; however, I didn't think this would happen, so I didn't sync before this.

I would REALLY like to get my windows/tabs back in the configuration they were. Under 'manage history' there's an import/backup option, with restore; under that, it shows Yesterdays Date with 563 items, but clicking on 'restore' for that tells me it will replace my bookmarks file...

And I don't know how to retrieve the previously synced data, having only used it in the (presumed) other direction.

Any clues welcome!

I upgraded my version of Firefox from an ESR version to v129.0.1 on Debian 12. Drag and drop of files from the desktop or the file manager (PCManFM-Qt) into the browser stopped working. It is still working properly in Chrome.

This occurs with several web apps but, as an example, it occurs when trying to drag a jpeg into Roundcube Webmail while composing a message.

No browser console errors are genrated when trying to do this. It occurs in Troubleshooting (safe) mode as well. In apps that pop-up a "Drag files here" target, that target still appears but dropping the file on it does nothing.

Hi! I'm using Firefox 126.0 on Fedora 39.

Pages from Amazon.co.uk load very slowly, incompletely, or not at all. All other Web sites are fine.

I had a couple of certificate-related errors saying that the identity of the site couldn't be verified, but I can't reproduce the problem, so I can't quote the exact wording, I'm afraid.

The same Amazon pages load properly in Chrome on the same machine, and they load properly in Firefox in a VM on the same machine. That tells me network connectivity must be fine.

I've tried disabling all extensions, reverting to the default theme, running in Troubleshoot Mode, clearing cookies and site data, clearing the startup cache, disabling hardware acceleration, and creating a new profile. The new profile helps slightly, in that it loads more of the page before getting stuck. Nothing else helps at all.

I'd prefer not to refresh Firefox if I can avoid it, because I don't want to lose all my plugins and settings. This installation is five years old. Besides, a new profile didn't fix the problem.

What's the next thing to try? I'd really appreciate any ideas.

I have been using Linux Mint 21+ since May of 2023. At that time I set all the Firefox preferences settings to what I've always set them to in the past, and have run Firefox with them ever since then. Now, about 3-4 weeks ago, I started Firefox and it came up with ONLY blue lines of text (not graphically). My Firefox homepage is "isp.netscape.com". I've waited until now to report the problem, since I was hoping that later Firefox updates would fix itself, but this did not occur with the 3-5 Firefox recent updates.

Originally, I posted the problem to the Linux Mint forums with the following title under SOFTWARE & APPLICATIONS: Firefox browser no longer graphical but only lines of blue text

Somebody there advised me to start Firefox in safe mode, which I did with this command in the terminal: firefox -safe-mode

and to my surprise, Firefox then came up graphically once again. However, going through the Firefox preferences and setting them one at a time, I came to what is causing the problem. Setting PRIVACY & SECURITY -> BROWSER PRIVACY -> HISTORY: "Remember History" to "Never Remember History" forces Firefox to reboot and when it comes up it came up with only blue lines of text, and not graphically.

One responder to my post on Linux Mint forums stated that it was also a problem with her on Windows 11. So, this is not a Linux Mint, or Windows 11 issue, but a Firefox issue. Mozilla made some change to Firefox back 4-5 weeks now that all of a sudden made Firefox come up in blue lines of text, and I changed nothing with Firefox since started with Linux Mint 21.3 1.5 years ago. I will add though, that ONLY my Firefox homepage (listed above) is the only page that is affected by this, every other website I visit comes up graphically.

What's UP?

Ron
