When I updated from an old version of Firefox it erased all my bookmarks and there is nothing in 'Options' that allows you to designate current page as your opening page. And their incessant reminder to update is maddening! That's what got me into this predicament in the first place. I finally succumbed and I, like so many others are ever so sorry I did. I tried many searches to try to reinstall an older version of Firefox but all failed. They just end up reloading the updated version before you can open it. It sucks! If I can't load an older version like Firefox 71 I might as well get a new browser since I'm going to have to spend hours replacing my bookmarks and other stuff erased by the update. I won't use Firefox anymore and I won't use Google Chrome. I also noticed in other Firefox Support questions that people who were having problems with Firefox were asking for suggestions for alternatives to Firefox and nobody seemed to want to suggest any but I'll ask anyway. I just want a simple light weight browser that doesn't have all the whistles and bells that take up so much memory and I wouldn't use anyway. I don't do games and I don't do social media. After having used Firefox for many years I feel they have failed me leaving me with only 2 choices of either using their new version which I'm unlikely do or finding an alternative browser which I probably will. I would like some suggestions on alternative web browsers with user's experiences. And I'm using Windows 7. I have Windows 10 in another computer but found it to much too intense so I don't use it.

This 'feature' annoys me so much. One, because its has no benefit and two, after FF75 it's not possible to disable it.

I like to discuss why someone thinks one click select all is useful. It's more common to edit your url/search input instead of type a complete new one. Selecting a part of your input or just input the cursor at a specific location gets really disturb by this 'feature'. In 30 years i use computers, this behavior have never been useful and when needed to select all, the click-swipe-release action is even as easy. Beside this, the decades old CTRL-A function is even as fast and useful.

More and more of this behavior is pushed at users on the web and i really don't see why. Can someone tell me why this behavior is invented? And how to disable it in newer FF versions?

I got the notification recommend me to refresh my firefox at the bottom, which only states that it will make my firefox run faster. But it didn't mention it will delete all my add-ons, reset my layouts, mess up my about:config settings. Which lead to unwanted automatic update download and installation. This is completely BS.
