I am using Firefox on Linux Ubuntu 26.04. I normally work with multiple tabs. Then I quit Firefox with all tabs open at the point of quitting. Some times on the rare occasion there can be a forced quit due to some issues. In my settings I have configured it not to open the previous tabs. In fact I want a blank page. But whenever I reopen Firefox, it opens those tabs and tries to reload which is annoying. Some of these pages take a long time to reload, and why would I want to look at tabs which I already have read. Or if it crashes due to some website on a tab why reopen something that crashed in the place ? Can you fix this. Thanks.

Problem: When downloading a file from a web page, the list of files and folders in the Download Panel are sorted such that file names and folder names are intermingled, rather than the "standard" folders first, then files.

Discussion: This problem has been happening for a bit now (probably 2 - 3 months or more). Unfortunately, I don't recall exactly which version of Firefox this originally showed up in. At some point recently, the default sort for the Download Panel changed, so that instead of listing folders at the top of the list of download targets, then listing files, now all items are interspersed. For example, previously selecting to download a file from a web page would give the Download Panel contents as:

AFolder BFolder CFolder AFile.txt BFile.pdf CFile.jpg

Now, the list presents as:

AFile.txt AFolder BFile.pdf BFolder CFile.jpb CFolder

I would like to go back to the previous sorting behavior, but I cannot find a way to do this. I have searched the Mozilla help articles without turning up relevant information, and I have searched the internet for web sites that might list relevant information, but either the information I am seeking is not out there (unlikely) or I am not coming up with search terms that locate the information (much more likely).

I am not even 100% sure that this is a Firefox problem (it is within the bounds of possibility that it is an OS problem), but none of my other regularly used programs show the symptom, so it would seem odd to me for it to be something other than a Firefox problem.

I would appreciate any pointers (web pages, help articles, or even just "change this in about:config) on how to resolve this.

I want the page to be on a certain zoom say like 50%, I put it on that level and then close firefox and restart. I then check the box that says zoom text only and it resets the zoom level of the page again. I does not stay at on the zoom level I selected. Like zoom text only is not checked in the hamburger menu.

I've downloaded the Firefox-recommended "search by image" extension. I can't figure out how to actually use it. Watched several videos, but none of those included the "how to use it" aspect.

If someone has time to respond to this, I'll very much appreciate detail and completeness - I'm afraid I'm not very intuitive.

Firefox does not recognize that it is gone too automatically update my window. I need help to put the latest VPN back into my Firefox version 153.0 bc I have tried everything AI has recommended and I still don't have it. I may have deleted the hidden files too. Should I just delete all of Firefox and download the latest version and let that update itself?

I am using Macbook Air computer with Monterey OS and part of Tahoe OS (I didn't have enough room to download it said I needed 5+ more gigs) and I was already using FireFox version 153.0 BUT I didn't know what that little VPN icon was at the top right of my screen and so I deleted it and everything to do with it. I may also have deleted the hidden files of it. I followed AI to try to recover it, but no luck. The Firefox app itself tells me I already have the latest version, but the entire VPN appears to be gone.

Not sure what else I could have accidentally deleted, but would a complete remove and re-install of Firefox be my easiest and best choice now? I can go no farther with AI, it reached a dead end. Can a Mozilla Firefox techy person please help me with the steps to do this if this is a good idea?

Please do let me know if there is a better / easier way and I can let you know if I've tried that already!

After years of using Firefox to access art sites, suddenly the sites no longer display all the images, leaving instead a verbal description of the art! This has happened in the last week! I am so frustrated with Firefox, I am considering switching to Safari or Chrome, as the don't have any problem downloading jpegs.

VPN is on. I can't access the internet. Error message is either: An error occurred during a connection to www.thewindowsclub.com. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.

Or: Connect to the internet You're offline. Check your connection.

I've googled the issue but it talks about ports and tunnels and going into settings. I've looked in the VPN Mozilla settings and there only seems the option to either include or exclude a website from the VPN. Nothing about different ports and testing. I've already written this message once but the VPN was on so it disconnected the internet and I lost this message! Trying a 2nd time now without the VPN

Any help? Or should I give up with it?

I'm trying to sync all the bookmarks I have saved in Firefox V 153.0 (aarch64) on my Macbook Pro V 26.5.2 to my Firefox V 153.0 on my iPhone 12 Pro running V 26.5.2

It looks like sync is running, but I can't find my laptop bookmarks on my iPhone?

Is it possible I have more than one firefox account? If so, how do I get rid of one?

Is it possible I'm logged in to Firefox via my Google account? If so, how do I delete that log in?

I am trying to change my default search engine to Firefox and it isn't allowing me. What could be preventing this? and how do I get around it? Thank you in advance for your help.

I am repeatedly unable to access certain websites because VPN has blocked access. Is there a way to set certain sites so VPN allows access without needing to repeat this instruction every time

the bill pay feature has worked for years on firefox. when I asked merrill edge about the feature not working, they asked me to use another browser. So I used Chrome, and the bill pay feature works.

I have tried safe mode. No joy, but it has shown plain vanilla FF is the issue, not extensions.

(I'm using a different browser to make this report, so Share Data button is of no use here.)
