I run wxmaxima on ubunbtu 20.04. The help menu option calls up firefox (v 101.0.1 (64 bit)) to find the local on disk html files. However this brings up the error message:

File not found

Firefox can’t find the file at /usr/share/maxima/5.45.1/doc/html/maxima_singlepage.html#g_t_0025.

But this is a valid path with user access permissions and the file maxima_singlepage.html exists and has user read permissions.

So what is firefox doing in looking for this file?

I have used the ms windows 10 version of wxmaxima and the firefox help works perfectly.

I am currently using Firefox 91.12.0esr (64bit) [tried to copy and paste the version, but "About Mozilla Firefox" prohibits copy, so I had to split the screen to make sure I typed it in correctly]

Many websites that have been successfully used for decades with Firefox in Linux are no longer supporting Firefox. Their updates seem to vary in effect. Most I use will not allow Firefox to enter the password. Some websites detect your browser and display the message that Firefox is not supported and some functions will not work. Other posts describe the functions that do not work for them. This is seemingly not unique as I was playing Wizard101 for four years with Wine under Linux and now I am unable to log into their game. I can log into their website, so my account is still active, but I do not have Windows or Mac operating systems to use even if I could figure out how to use a virtual machine.

The only solution I have is to use the Web 3.38.2 browser / WebKitGTK 2.36.4, but most other browsers should function properly.

Although I have been using Firefox as my favorite browser for more than two decades, it seems that Firefox is no longer supported. Even the https://www.247freepoker.com/ game freezes after a few rounds.

There was a post that claimed a fix, but did not explain how to turn it on. I already checked my firewall settings and internet connectivity settings even though it did not seem to be the cause of the problem.

FF uses all memory. I start computer. Start FF to blank page. No Internet connection. No other programs running. Ran memtest before - all Crucial RAM good. If I leave FF on, doing nothing all RAM will be used. Linuxmint 20.3, FF 100. Does this happen with Windows or Mac?

Can you fix FF hanging on 1 core, sending to 100% and freezing Firefox. I mean people have only been complaining about it for over a DECADE !!!!!!!!! People are dropping FF in droves. Stop with the releases and just fix it already.... It used to be the best now its like 6th and falling.......

In the past few week I have started having problem playing certain YouTube videos (I see no real pattern except certain channels seem to be more likely to fail than others) in a normal browser window, the video will stop at the spinning circle. It works if I try in an incognito window (with all the same extensions active) or another browser. I have noticed the problem on a Linux Mint laptop as well as on a macbook. On the Linux laptop I tried replacing the built in Firefox with the one from the the Mozilla homepage with no improvement. If I clear history in Firefox it seems to work once or twice and then the problem reappears. I also tried disabling hardware acceleration but no dice. There does not seem to be any difference whether I am logged in to my YouTube account or not. I have even tried reinstalling the computer but the problem does not disappear.

Hi all, I'm having a lot of problems with Firefox crashing pretty often. Sometimes once or twice a day.

I most often see crashes in the middle of a Webex video conference for work. But Firefox sometimes goes down in other situations that I see no pattern in.

This is Ubuntu 20.04, Firefox 102.0. Unfortunately, it's a complex environment to debug.

First, when firefox goes down, it rarely leaves a crash report behind. So I'm not getting any direct evidence as to what is happening. Second, I run with uBlock active and it is very difficult to function in the browser without long enough for the crash to happen. Third, I typically have several hundred tabs open. I have a lot of memory (64G) in my machine, and the machine doesn't act like it's swapping, so I don't think I'm running out of memory.

Any help getting to the bottom of what's going on is welcome.

I use Firefox 104.0 (64-bit) in Ubuntu. I use Firefox to connect to my gmail and my professional services which requires two factor authentication. For each of these services I check "Don't ask me again on this device". But each time I restart my laptop, I have to enter again my TFA. I guess this is a configuration problem, but I can't find which one is it: I don't know browse in private mode, so it should be something else. Any ideas? Kind regards

After upgrading to Firefox 103, I've noticed the following behavior:

The mouse icon does not change while moving over web pages or even the menu items and tabs.

It requires a click for the mouse icon to change and for an action to take place.

This causes problems because of some actions that expect a mouse hover or a click-and-hold response, which this error is preventing.

For example, clicking on Google Maps and dragging to move the map is impossible.

Hovering over a menu to allow it's automatic drop down to appear is also impossible.

This is not consistent; when I open a new Firefox window the mouse behaves normally for a time.

It does lose this ability but I don't know how quickly it happens, but after at least an hour of use, the problem is apparent.

I had thought this was a problem with my extensions or themes, because the problem does not exist in private mode. But when I temporarily removed all the extensions and themes from my setup, the problem still occurred. And the fact that a new window with all extensions still active suggests that this is not caused by those extensions, or if so, not immediately.

I use Firefox on Linux Debian 11 (Bullseye). After a recent automatic update to Firefox 91.10.0esr, some websites will not load (just sit with a blank page, showing flicking loading symbol). Examples are ocado.com and abelandcole.co.uk. I have tried all the usual things to fix, including, switching off VPN, clearing cookies and caches, running in safe mode, all with no success. Both sites run fine in Vivaldi and Brave. I have eventually got the pages to load by disabling IPv6 in Firefox. Clearly there is a problem with 91.10.0esr. I'm not sure whether the workaround of disabling IPv6 might cause other problems or weaken security or privacy?

I'm clicking on a list of links on a page, and the download-panel keeps popping up. This blocks the view of the page that I'm clicking on and I lose my position on the page as I'm clicking.

I like seeing the download-panel, so I don't want to turn it off. I'd just like it to show only the last clicked-on entry, not the last 10 or however many it's showing, which seems to include completed downloads.

I can see that it has a hard limit on how many entries it shows. Is there a way for me to adjust that limit?

I recently went to use my card to buy something off ebay, my card is probably in the depths of my room, so i went to check firefox, it shows the last 4 digits of my card, showing that it did save it, but i cannot access it, and i cannot use the number on the card? I would really like to retain it, can anyone enlighten me? Thanks

If I ever get this going again, I will NOT allow automatic updates. I urgently need to get to some sites I can NOT get to now for three or four days fighting with this. It has never started once since the update. I don't know the previous version. In terminal this is what is says:

I need to disable all videos from ever playing no matter what for medical safety reasons, does Firefox allow this?

I've already found the option in the config to disable GIFs. Turning off autoplay is not enough.

I've only been having it issue since upgrading to Ubuntu 22.04. Firefox (103.0.2) will lock up (not the pc, it will keep working in other apps). It doesn't seem to matter about the number of tabs open, or what sites I'm accessing. It 'seems' random, and closing Firefox and reopening it seems to work for a short while before locking up again. I'm not a tech guru so I don't know exactly what to include here, like logs, or other info. The other issue associated with this issue is, when it locks, and I restart, Firefox does not start the first time I click on it. I have to click on it again and when I do, it will start, but usually (not every time) I get an error message along with the open home page of Firefox. I have to press the (not sure what to call it) windows key and switch to the error to close it. In the past, I've always had a great experience with Firefox, but this is starting to really be annoying! Especially when I have four of five tabs open and have to do a restart. Firefox doesn't seem to realize it's had a problem so the option to re-open tabs with a restart doesn't happen. So I have to use history, which can be troublesome and confusing, to get back to the pages I was reading. I only open multiple tabs most often when I'm researching an issue and want to 'order' the tabs so I read the ones that look like they apply the most to my research topic. So it really is an annoying issue. So much so, that I have been looking to switch browsers. But I really do not like the large commercial entities not to name names, but I may have to suck it up and install the Big G's browser, the Big C! )^: (note: if you respond requesting additional information, please be kind and offer how to obtain the info! I have Firefox 50.1.0 on openSUSE 13.1 Linux (KDE desktop). This is the last update from openSUSE, but is now deprecated by some websites. I am reluctant to download a recent Firefox version without knowing in advance that it will work under SUSE 13.1. I am familiar with 13.1 and reluctant to update that, merely to run a new version of Firefox, as it will create complications with my multi-boot system, which includes a MSDOS 6 partition for legacy software (it took me ages to get GRUB configured to load that reliably and I'm not sure I could do it again).

Please advise what is the latest version of Firefox that will run under my elderly version of Linux and how to obtain and install it (I am not an expert Linux command line user). I am using Firefox 106.0.3 under Windows 7 to send this to you (multi-boot system), because I could not sign up with 50.1.0.

For instance there is a site I use, which has a list of my posts, with buttons to delete the posts. I click the delete button, this opens an "Are you sure?" modal window, I click delete, the modal closes, I am on the same original list page with the same URL, but now I have another pseudo-page in my back button history that I have to go through.

If I do this with three more posts, I will have an additional three back button history dropdown entries to navigate back through.

When I exceed the number of entries shown in the dropdown, I have to keep clicking through the quasi-paginated list of duplicated back button history entries for the same exact page, to get back to the page I was on before ever going to the list page.
