I recently installed Firefox on a new WIndows 8 PC and have noticed that desktop notifications for my addons aren't working. The two addons in question are Gmail notifier (restartless) [firefox.add0n.com/gmail-notifier.html] and Twitch.tv Stream Browser https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire.../?src=api. I don't think this is an addon-specific issue, though, as both addons use the same type of notification and when it's supposed to show up, nothing happens. Desktop notifications work perfectly on my Windows 7 PC and I can't exactly use Safe Mode to test because that'll disable my addons. Is there anything that could be affecting this? Thanks in advance.

After applying a routine update on Windows XP, I started getting "not responding" on shut down and had to cancel the task through Task Manager. The "not responding" error moved to selecting items on a screen and had to cancel through Task Manager. I applied the latest updates and that did not fix the problem. The last update was 34.0.5 and FireFox would not start up. I saw that several people also had this same problem with Windows 7 (although my Windows 7 works ok - knock on wood).
34.0.5 would come up in SafeMode but not otherwise. I did a Reset and FireFox did start with with Extensions disabled. The first extension I enabled was Norton 2014 Toolbar and FireFox did not come up. After applying all of the available NIS fixes, FireFox did come up with the NIS 2014 enabled and seems to function normally at this present time.

Today Firefox has been crashing immediately on start-up. Yesterday it was crashing repeatedly after a short while of being opened, and today it won't open at all. I have updated Firefox and the graphics drivers and checked for viruses and malware, but none of this seems to be the problem.

When I click on a link to view a PDF file, Firefox tries to make me save the file. This started when I clicked the "do this every time" check box for ONE file. Now I can't undo the selection and my Applications Options control window is completely blank: not only are no PDF options available, no options are available for ANY file type. I have to use Google Chrome to view PDFs online without saving them. I'm running Firefox version 34.0 but the problem started with version 33.

Twice now I have downloaded files to work on through firefox. The first time I downloaded an excel file, worked on it for several hours, saved, and then found it was completely erased from my hard drive with no record that such a file existed. The second time this happened it was a word document in which the same thing has happened. The files also fail to show in my firefox download history. I need to know if there is a way to recover those files.

HI, After I updated to 34.0 on OSX 10.9.5 (thorough automatic update), I noticed that all the contents of the tile disappeared. Before the update, I saw many tiles when I opened a new tab. Even after some browsing, no contents appears (I can see only an array of blank tiles). I switched between enhanced, classic, blank. No effect.
Furthermore, built-in PDF viewer is not working. All the time I click the pdf link, I see the window to download the pdf file with the title "Enter name of file to save to...". Before the update, PDF viewer worked fine, no problem. After I noticed the problem, I checked Preferences -> applications, and confirmed that the action to the content type "Portable Document Format (PDF)" is set to "Preview in Firefox".
Moreover, built-in password manager also stopped working. It doesn't remember new password. It doesn't provide any already-remembered passwords on the site where it has automatically provided the account and password before the update. I checked Preferences -> Security ->Saved Passwords. There are many passwords remembered (remembered before the update).
I re-install the firefox manually. It doesn't help.
Can Anybody Help Me? Is there any information I can provide to sort out my problem?

The defaults are; marketplace.firefox.com and addons.mozilla.org
But every time Firefox is restarted, this list is deleted. Even resetting Firefox does not fix this. I deleted the prefs.js file, but no joy. I checked, and found this enter in the file, but it will not display when Firefox is started.

I even downgraded from Firefox 34.0.5 to 33.1.1 but the issue is still there.

Whenever I bookmark a page, if I immediately look at the bookmark, the information is correct. But if I click on my bookmark, it will take me to the profile page of one of my facebook friends and then that will be the information found in the bookmark. I have seen something about "resetting" firefox to fix it, but I'm not exactly sure what they mean by resetting firefox.

After Firefox updated on Dec 9th, I cannot log-in to MyYahoo or Yahoo mail using Windows 8 or XP sp3. When I try to log-in it states cookies are being rejected. I have followed all directions for removal and confirmed settings. MSIE works. I tried removing Adblocker and Firefox Filter add-ons because Firefox started freezing. I fixed the freezing but still can't log into Yahoo. I added Yahoo to exception lists but it did not help.

My mouse pad recently "slipped" and sent my cursor somewhere on my toolbar without my wanting it to go there. Before I even saw what happened, I somehow clicked on something on my toolbar that made my little home page icon disappear -- that little house. Firebox still opens to the homepage that I want it to, but the convenience of getting back to this homepage is gone without my little house icon. Help: where did it go, and how do I get it back?

For years, my desktop icons have acted as if they only have so many "slots" to fit into on the desktop. BUt this was never a problem. They were easier to line up because they were either right next to each other, or one "slot" above/below/apart.
Now, for some reason, I can move the desktop icons tiny distances, as if they are scalar items that can be minimally nudged. Suddenly there are no more "slots", and kind of paradoxically the icons are harder to group and line up because I have to keep nudging them so they look straight. Before, they were either straight or a whole notch out of line.
