Last week, I had to re-installed OS X 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion) on my iMac because of lightening bolt surge. And, after doing so, I then had to re-install the Waterfox browser app. to gain better access to my email account (because the old version of Safari that came with the vintage OS re-installation is no longer viable)

My questions are: 1. Do my former bookmarks (or the Waterfox profile that they were stored in) still exist somewhere? and 2. Is it possible to retrieve them to replace (and/or add them to) the new profiled bookmarks created with the updated Waterfox app.?

I've already tried following some of the suggested help from the forum questions that I read here, but have been disheartened because no backups for my years of bookmarking seem to exist. Sadly, I never knew that there was a way to back up bookmarks prior to this recent investigation.

I want to permanently and repeatedly disable part of a website that messes up the layout. I get a VEEERY long slider at the bottom when the element is present with a never ending page.

I found out using the inspector which element of the page was doing it and if I "delete the node" the website appears completely normal.

The line in blue is what I want to delete permanently. And it is gone on the second upload.

I use firefox bookmarks to store my biomedical research data which over the last 12 years has grown to a large size with places.sqlite around 60 Mb and bookmarks.html about 75 Mb.

Sometime ago the bookmarks.html file suddenly almost doubled in size to some 130 Mb (I automatically back up/export my bookmarks as a bookmarks.html file) and places.sqlite to some 70 Mb. Unfortunately I only discovered the issue sometime after it happened.

According to Places Maintenance, which I run relatively frequently, the bookmarks data base comprises:

Table moz_places has 77666 records Table moz_bookmarks has 230886 records

The bloated bookmarks.html file is needlessly taking up a lot of backup space . I can only assume that somehow one of the very large files was inadvertently copied into some other folder. Given the vast number of folders/subfolders it is a virtually impossible task to open each one to find where such a large file has been put to cause such bloat. Unfortunately when I open the bookmarks.html file there is no folder structure visible so it is not possible to sort folders by size which would greatly help to find the offending folder.

Although I am quite useful at finding my way around browser technology I have no sqlite database skill. I have looked at the places.sqlite using DB Bowser for Sqlite and SqliteManager extension in the hope that I could figure out whether it is possible to identify folders and hopefully sort them by size to find where the misplaced large folder is located. But no luck it is all greek to me.

I would be most grateful if anyone can offer suggestions/guidance on any possible way to identify folders and to sort them by size from places.sqlite or any other way (I have considered exporting the bookmarks from places.sqlite to xlsl into Excel but it does not seem to offer any way to search for/sort folders by size.

I am on Win10 Pro.

Why did Mozilla remove the disabled add-on fixes for older Firefox versions & where are they now?

Mozilla created them, made them available, advertised them & their location but after a short while removed them!! WTF?!?!?

In particular I'm looking for the disabled-add-on-fix-52-56. Please put all three of them back online for Firefox users ASAP.

I have two firefox profiles with which I wish to share bookmarks. An easy solution is to create a symbolic link replacing the one places.sqlite file with a link to the file in the other profile, thus we're always just using one set of bookmarks and all is happy. However, Firefox keeps overriding my link; labeling the file "corrupt" and replacing it with a cached version. I need to know how to stop firefox from overriding my input and respect the changes made in the profile folder. I need to disable whatever mechanism is going on that is checking the files and reconstituting them.

As I understand it, FF will soon start updating regardless of my settings. I have my update set to "Never", but it sounds as if I will no longer have say in all of this mess.

The most important feature for me is the old Tab Groups V. 2.1.4. It by far the biggest time-saver I have. Without this, I would have a heck of a time manually bringing up various tabs all the time and it would entirely foul up my schedule.

How do I keep TB from automatically updating?

Anyone know a replacement for the Tab Groups that could just take my existing tabs (over 100) and use them w/o doing it manually?

i/m using firefox Developer's latest edition and have tried repeatedly to remove bookmark toolbar favicons and cannot...i removed them from regular firefox but no luck with Developer edition

i have tried all the Chrome tricks i can find on the forum and other places but nothing is working...how do you remove bookmark toolbar favicons from Firefox Developer

I get the Error code: 2S119/1 when I want to sign up to the Briskoda website after putting in my username and password. This error code did not come up in FF 52 ESR and it also does not come up in Waterfox.

Does anyone know what is different or has changed from FF 52 to FF 56 that FF 56 throws up this error?

My previous thread was archived, but further regression has occurred so I'll bring it up here again as feature requests are down. I'm still using 56 one reason being that there are separate control options for the start page and the home page. I like to start with a blank page, but have the home button available for my #1 destination. The current version of firefox combines start and home pages, thus taking away my options to separate these elements. For a while it wasn't in the GUI, but you could fix it in the about:config (which was my previous "solution"), but with the latest updates this has been removed as well.

How do I get separate start and home pages? If I could assign a value to the home icon that didn't affect the start page, that would work too.

I'm using v56.0.2 as it was the last before Mozilla took away the extensions that I depend on. Up until recently, it's worked flawlessly on Facebook. Now, within the last week or so, I can no longer type in the comments box on someone else's post. The cursor is there and flashing but when I type, the cursor only flickers but no text. Other browsers don't have this issue so I'm confident that it's nothing to do with my FB profile. Typing in the search box or creating a new post works fine. I just can't type comments.

I have 3 add ons - Superstart, My weekly browsing , FVD Speeddial running in Version 56.02. Will they work in latest version of Firefox? Am running Windows 10. Frank

When I right-click on the "Reverse Page Direction" menu, the writing direction does not change, and remains the same, and I have to use an external plugin.
