Dont laugh, but yes I have firefox 3.6.28 with windows xp and sp 2. and just recently this stupid plugin check keeps popping up every time i open my firefox. My version 3.6 was fine until today. and nothing on my end has changed with my knowledge.

Yes i know most would tell me to update my firefox to correct it, BUT I DO NOT WANT TO UPDATE. if i wanted a newer version i would download it.

Personally I hate the new versions of firefox, and have no use for them. and do not want to update to something I DON'T WANT. I choose to keep my old firefox, I do not want to update it every time mozilla feels like changing or adding some stupid feature i do not use, need or want. leave versions alone for petes sake mozilla

With that said how can i permanently stop that stupid checker ?

Jscher and Cor-el tried to help me a few years back w/o success. Trying again to upgrade from 3.6 (XP) to 27 (Win7). Exported from 3.6 as HTML file (also have json), and imported into 27. Last time, I never 'found' most of my bookmarks in FF 27. Especially not the folders. This time, I tried Library View and it appears everything is there, folders, subs, in sequence etc. BUT ... unlike in 3.6.28, I can still only see the contents of one folder in the right pane at a time.

     I can't work like that.

SO ... maybe, I can access ALL my bookmarks some other way (not via Library)? Via a toolbar perhaps? But for some reason, the collection in the toolbar doesn't remotely resemble the organized collection I see in the Library. Virtually no folders, and in chaotic order. Many missing it appears. If the contents from the Library were mirrored in the Toolbar (using AIOS), I'd be good to go. Is this what I should expect? What more can I try? Thanks!!!

So... I used Firefox and Chrome. After updating my Firefox, then downgrading it again (I use 3.6 version... and yes, it's old, but it still works for me), my Firefox began to have... issues.

http://tinypic.com/r/35lrwus/6 However, when I click on "Aywas", or some of my games/Apps for Facebook, the search bar stays on that letter (instead of the url for the site), and instead going to the page shown in the screenshot.

So far, this has been happening only with Aywas (a site I play on) and Facebook games. Everything else seems fine. So how can I fix this? (and no, DO NOT suggest that I switch to Version 12)

Ok - I have a PowerBook G4, 10.4.11, PowerPC. I am using Firefox version 3.6.28. For the past two weeks firefox keeps telling me to update my plugins: Shockwave Flash 10.1 r102, Quicktime 7.6.4, etc. The ones I listed are giving me grief - I have uninstalled, reinstalled etc. Flash doesn't support Power Pcs anymore so how can I possibly get the update???? And no luck with Quicktime either - I downloaded, restarted, and still get the plugin update message for it. Is there a different version of Firefox I can use? Can't upload any images to FB and it must be because of Flash. Anyway getting really frustrated so thanks for your help.

Whenever I try to Like something on facebook, nothing happens, and when I try to comment, if I write further than the small existing chatbar, it will not scroll to allow me to see what I'm typing. When I hit Enter to make the comment, nothing happens.

I'm concerned that Facebook simply won't work properly for me because of my old version of firefox (3.6.28), however I cannot upgrade to a newer version because of the age of my computer (running OSX 10.4.11), and I'm not in a position to get a new computer right now, so I'd like to see if I can find a fix.

I have already tried clearing my cookies and cache, I've checked my plugins for problematic ones, including "Effective Measure Community Plugin 3.1.0 (by Effective Measure Pty Ltd)" mentioned in another thread (it wasn't there) and disabled those it listed as being known to cause problems. I've checked to make sure my JavaScript is up to date and enabled. I've tried turning off all add-ons, and the possible combinations of some on, some off. I've tried adding a cookie permission for Facebook. So far, none of these fixes have been effective. I haven't been able to try troubleshooting in Safe Mode, because the option to run in Safe Mode is not listed under the Help dropdown menu.

Is there anything I haven't tried that anyone knows of for fixing the issue, or is my browser simply too outdated?

I updated to FF13 and everything takes several minutes to do anything. Sometimes many minutes and I just give up. I revert back to FF 3.6 and everything works fine.

My kids were messing with my computer and must have pushed something and everything disappeared. I need to know how to put an address bar (back button, refresh, ect) back up into the top of my window. Part of the problem is that my computer screen is cracked and I can't see anything in my menu easily. A command that would restore the address bar would help. Thanks.

Do you not realize that there are HUNDREDS of cookies in the Cookie Jar? I want to save SOME of them (banks, stores, Facebook, etc.) but get rid of the rest. Why have you made it so that I can't click & drag (or otherwise select) multiple cookies for deletion? You're going to make me delete them one at a time? What could possibly be the reasoning for such a decision? Or is it an oversight?

The lastest "up-date" [that's a laugh!] has moved "Tabs" where I do NOT want them & my toolbars have all disappeared! How do I download a version that actually does what I want it to do?

I got a message from the installer that four of my extensions will be disabled when I install Firefox 11.0. I tried to find these extension updates, but couldn't.

MAJOR issue with Firefox freezing up. Every time ANY secondary window opens, the entire browser freezes, and I have to use the task manager to shut it down. This includes windows like a little verification for a bill pay, task/link entry windows in various forums, and even Firefox functions, such as the clearing cookies/cache/etc window. When I open even that, to clear things, I can't do it. Even if the browser hasn't been opened but a few minutes, it freezes. The little windows won't close, I can't navigate from the page, nothing. I am using 3.6.28, and no, I do NOT want to upgrade. We have the latest version on other systems, and it stinks. Pop-up blocker doesn't block things that it DOES block on my system (things on the same site, same page, etc), the themes are totally GONE (and I would miss Captain Jack Sparrow at the top of my browser window!), and often, various STANDARD browser items are missing - back button, bookmark link, refresh, etc. I don't want a version with all those issues. i like the layout I have, and I like my themes. However, since the latest "update", I have had this stupid issue, and this seriously restricts my browsing. I have already tried disabling ALL of the add-ons/plug-ins, to no avail. No change whatsoever. Tried disabling all cookies. Didn't work. I can't even find mention of this particular issue in all the help pages, and I HAVE tried all of the solutions offered for Firefox "hanging". Np proxy to connect, no extra session files, no plug-in issues, nothing. I really have to wonder if this issue wasn't created, to attempt to force me to upgrade. I will NOT do so in such a fashion. I don't like being pushed. Yes, I have also checked my antivirus settings, and they are still fine. Firefox is listed as "trusted", and not restricted at all. Never caused a problem before, either, and I don't think that's the issue now.

So, who else has this ridiculous problem? Who else would like a solution that doesn't offer a limited browser with no themes? Or, hey, live chat to discuss it with a real tech person, that can DO something about it??? Yeah, i am frustrated. I LOATHE IE, and I started using Firefox because of major issues with various versions of IE, in various versions of Windows, on various computers. been using Firefox for a LONG time now, more than a decade, and never had issues like this. What gives? PLEASE help. I want the features I have, and I don't want to use IE, and will NOT use anything from Google. Need help! Someone have an idea on how to get the fox's paw out of this trap?

Since 5/22/12 I have an annoying yellow banner in Firefox (and other web pages) stating that "some plugins are out of date on this page.") How do I get rid of this? I've checked my plugins and I'm fine for my Mac OS (10.4.1).

Removal, restart and reinstallation of 3.6.28 cures the problem. The slowness is expressed when changing pages and/or srolling. The computer is Vaio VPCX11S1E lightweight w/ 128 GB SSD, 2GB RAM, Awast antivirus and Zone Alarm firewall. No private plugins have been nsntalled

I have been trying Xmarks for a short while and am upgrading to FF12. Can FF12 sync directly (automatically) with IE.

I use IE rarely, usually when some program forces a call to it. I'm more concerned with moving the IE favorites I might create than FF bookmarks to IE.

I dislike the idea of have to go though the export/import process over and over.

I close firefox with the X like I close all of my applications but every time I close it I get a popup box saying that firefox has crashed do you want to send a crash report and I can type in what happened. Then I can choose to close firefox or restart it.

I need to apologize for an intemperate name-calling earlier this evening. Every time I loaded more than one tab FF crashed and because I am using an old version and was told that FF would eventually disable it I assumed that is what happened. Each time it crashed it sent a report. Once I added my poor comment. Turns out it was my modem acting up. I am using an old version because I use Google Autofill regularly. Newer versions do not support Autofill. (Or the other way around.) Every day I am bugged to upgrade. Sorry for assuming the problem was caused by FF.

Every time I go to click on Firefox it defaults to this location. My machine won't update adobe or the flash player to the newest version. Why did this start just 2 days ago? I have Firefox clicked not to update. I have gone to the info bar on about:config and made sure it was false. Nothing works.
