It is the 'Search Bar' function on your Browser! It's an absolute nuisance to use. When you begin typing a question into the search bar it immediately (as you all know) diverts to the Address bar in the Browser. Your eyes have to divert your focus and attention every single time you use the Search Bar making the process fatiguing, exacerbated by having to put up with the smaller font used in the address bar. Google, EDGE and Opera, Doesn't use this method only Firefox. It's a real pain and the is the sole reason I will never make 'Fox' my default Browser.

I just want to search outside of the main stream billionaire run systems. They aren't standing up for me I refuse to use their products.

I always use google as my default search engine for firefox. I recently got a message saying firefox had been updated. Ever since, whenever I search for something it keeps using yahoo as the default search engine instead of google. I checked the settings and google IS selected as the default search engine. The weird thing is, if I set the default search engine to something like ebay or wikipedia it will use that correctly. It's just that when google is selected it goes to yahoo instead. I appreciate any help, thank you.

There is no reason for it to pop-up in my browser at all but there is absolutely no reason for it to be the top item whenever I open my browser. Why is it even there? I always use DuckDuckGo to search.
