Firefox has exceeded all previous mess-ups by upgrading itself today (apparently sometime when my battery went flat and was then left recharging), and this happened despite my account being set for 'upgrades to be only installed manually'. Now every bookmark, all passwords and all the settings of my Home Page have been erased. I have no 'restore point' to resort to as supposedly all this info is synced to the cloud. But I can find no method to retrieve any of these files let alone one to restore them. This is a nightmare. Please help.

A power surge took out my computer during a Windows up date, I could not recover anything, so did a fresh install of Windows........now, I can't get Firefox to bring over my bookmarks. I am so upset and lost right now, I'm sure I'm just missing something to do. Please help.

I recently logged back in to my Firefox account that I hadn't logged into in about 3 to 4 months and all my passwords and links in the sync part are completely gone that took me years to setup. Is there any way of recovering them? Where did they do? I am positive I did not delete the account sync information. I would greatly appreciate any help in this matter.

I am having trouble logging into my bank account. Message is saying error, secure connection failed. An error occurred during a connection to online.newcastlepermanent.com.au. PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR. Have not had problems before. Please help.

Good afternoon, I restarted my windows computer because it was buggy and right before reinstalling I synced the Firefox account so that whenever I reinstalled Firefox in the PC once more I could have all my bookmarks.

Now while setting up, I find out none were synced? It doesn't appear and obviously I don't have access to the "old" browser to manually download the html file. This was weird because last time I downloaded Firefox in another device and logged into my account it automatically synced and configured everything as it was.

Please advice if there's any way to restore my bookmarks at least because I need them for work.

My impression is that everytime Firefox updates I loose my passwords and bookmarks. This happens on my windows and Linux computers. I believe that I'm not signed in to Firefox but not sure. Would not being logged in cause this problem?

I have a rather strange problem and I'm not sure this is the right topic. I generally use my computer on and off all day and I never lock it until the evening when I turn it off. I went out for several hours today and when I came back there was a new version of Firefox installed. When I opened Firefox I realized it was a new version because it would not let me logon until I had completed a profile. My old version never did this. In addition all of my saved passwords had disappeared as well as my bookmarks. I'm using a Dell laptop running Win 11, about 2 years old. I don't understand how this could happen. There was no one here while I was out. I looked to see if there was a saved profile but only the one in use showed up. The current version appears to be 145.0.1. One thing that might have something to do with it. I might have been asked yesterday if I wanted to synch firefox on my computers but I'm not sure how I answered this (I'm almost 90 and my memory is a bit imperfect).

I do have Firefox on a second desktop which is running Win 10. Is it possible to use that profile. That computer has not been turned on since this happebd and is currently asleep. Any help or suggestions will really be appreciated!

I know the system backs up bookmarks every day or so. I want to migrate all to a new PC. With a new Laptop it seems to have done so automatically, maybe through synchronize feature, I am not sure how I did that . I normally export bookmarks to a external flash drive as HTML. Just did also to a .json file type cannot find how to do that. Which format and method will be best? Have all of the old PC backed up through Acronis full back up. Will that have the full Firefox program with the bookmarks?

I have to do a clean install of Windows, how do I save all my firefox bookmarks and passwords as well as Thunderbird addresses and any other info I might want to import back into Firefox and Thunderbird once I've installed windows again.

I know this is dumb, but I cleared my iMac's cache and nuked my entire history, password and bookmarks. This is catastrophic :( Can you please assist with any steps that may be able to allow me to recover this data? I have icould and it's synced, and I have a Firefox account but I cannot seem to find any way of restoring or accessing some backup. Please advise. Thank you!

Being a weird person, I always saved my sites on my firefox browser and for my own reasons, hadn't bookmarked them and always kept them open on tabs to pick up and read at a later date, and as a result, racked up a lot of different tabs that were all very dear to me. However due to a catastrophic hardware failure a few hours ago I lost everything on my local files, including my backups of all the firefox tabs. I was hoping that if there was a remote possiblility that if the sync was able to record tabs, that it would also save all tab information from previous browser sessions.

My primary PC died about a month ago, and the SSD is fried. I had it synced to both my phone and a secondary one, so no problem accessing things. I bought a new one online, and it just arrived. Then, when I tried opening all my tabs on my new PC, I found that they were no longer available, on either that one, or my other devices. This is new, because I had already recovered a few individual tabs to my phone previously, but I hadn't thought to open all 50-100 of them then since I was waiting on a new primary laptop. The device still shows up among the connected services on my account, but it doesn't show the tabs anywhere I could find, and since the SSD doesn't work I can't go into the files and manually port them over. Is there a way to solve this?

Hello, I have a mac os high sierra version 10.13.6. Google meet has stopped working since yesterday. I updated firefox (115.19.0esr). That doesn't work either. Do you have any advice for me? I hope! Thank you so much! Marie Dupuis

After purchasing a new laptop, I installed Firefox and attempted to restore my data, particularly my bookmarks and passwords. Unfortunately, during the process, I had to reset my Firefox account password because I had forgotten the original one. At the time, I did not fully realize that this would result in the loss of my synced data. I later learned that this action may have removed access to my previous settings. I checked my backup files, including the Application Support folder, but I was unable to find the necessary data to restore my bookmarks. I am certain that synchronization was enabled on my previous device, but after logging into my account on the new laptop, none of my bookmarks were restored. This situation is quite urgent for me, and I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide. Is there any possibility that my bookmarks could still be recovered? I am trying to find a way to restore the previous tabs that I had open. All the standard restore procedures out of the History button or elsewhere are not working due to the account change. Here's the background and scenario: Original account created 1 month ago on old Linux PC New PC purchased and Ubuntu Linux 24.04 installed Firefox installed and configured, bookmarks imported from .html file. No sync account was ever signed in to. Open a crapload of tabs that I wanted/needed to interact with (yes, I need a better task management system) Finally decide to log into sync account, successful sign-in Close browser for PC restart. Upon restart, all configurations from 1 month ago on old Linux PC are present, and no previously-opened tabs come back. Restore session/restore tabs/restore browser all are greyed out, no data to access in history anywhere. Signed out of account, closed browser window and restarted. Still displaying config from old sync account even when not logged in (different theme, toolbar settings)

I am unable to locate any files in the pathway Home/snap/firefox/common/.mozilla/firefox that clearly indicate multiple profiles; there is only one distinct profile folder present. I haven't cleared cache or anything, trying to not touch it more. Is it possible to restore or even see the URLs of those tabs from my session prior to logging in to my sync profile?

Firefox keeps just not work after I restart my Mac on the latest OS.

Now I have reloaded firefox and all of my bookmarks are missing and the account is unscynced?

I have rebooted my computer and when Firefox is restarted all the bookmarks in the bookmark toolbar are gone. I have Firefox set to sync these bookmarks on all devices and am concerned if I just initiate a new sync then the bookmarks will be deleted from all other devices instead of reloading them all from the Mozilla server. How can I force a reload of all sync'd bookmarks from the Mozilla server to my Firefox on this computer?
