Microsoft Excel is no longer listed i Applications as download option. All files downloaded automatically are stored as Microsoft Word files, not just excel files. I can change individual files manually to .xlsx which is a nuisance, but this also happens with Zip files (7Zip) and I am at a loss as to how to change them when they are downloaded as a Word document.
This does not happen on a newer MacBook Pro, but I need it to work with the older version. The older Mac is MacBook Pro 9.2 with MacOS Catalina Version 10.15.7 Firefox is version 103.0

I recently moved from Chrome to Firefox. When I use Firefox on Ubuntu 22.04, I can access my passwords freely. However, when I use it on macOS Monterey, it does not work. Page about:logins shows no logins and passwords but only a small little warning bar in the upper corner that says that I need to login with my OS password (see Secure Firefox passwords with device sign-in fixed link to kb article. aw). However, when I click the small "Connexion" button in the notification bar, nothing happens. I have no pop-up/prompt, neither on the system nor on the web page, to allow me input my credentials. I tried after reinstalling Firefox on my Mac but nothing changed.
Do you know how this problem can be fixed? Thank you, and sorry if it is a duplicate.

Hi all, I'm having an issue that I've seen mentioned over several years and without a workable solution - I'm at the point of having to transfer all my browser usage to chrome and abandon my beloved firefox. The issue has been 'answered' by advanced users to tell people to 'inspect' which font is the issue then check local systems font book for corrupted/duplicate fonts: however this is not a satisfactory response. Context: see screen shot attached for what the jibberish looks like, and a point in the 'inspect' view that I believe (guessing) is involved. System: Firefox 112.0.2 (64-bit), MacOS 13.3.1 (a) (22E772610a) on Macbook Pro (13-inch, 2020, 2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5). This same websites do not have any issue on the same computer viewed on Chrome or Safari. Nor is there any problem on my iPhone on the iOS firefox browser.
Firstly this is not a user-friendly solution for most people, I'm afraid. Opening the inspect viewer is mindboggling for anyone who doesn't code and even for people who do some programming but not for websites (like me), it isn't exactly self-explanatory. I think I've managing to find examples that indicate 'Roboto' seems to be consistently involved in the display issue. Secondly, the step for 'fixing' the font that is the culprit - my local system indicates that all fonts are valid and there are no duplicates. I haven't installed manually Roboto as I'm uncertain where to 'safely' get the font from and my computer is owned and managed by my workplace - with overly strict administration/security rules so if I f-up a download of something dodgy my IT service will blacklist me and revoke my admin access... ** which would mean I'd be unable to do my job!**. I wondered if perhaps there is some security setting due to that, which stops website from loading the fonts they choose? From previous 'solutions' it said that having Firefox preference set to "allow websites to choose their own fonts..." should mean the websites can load as needed. If indeed I must manually download fonts for each and every instance that Firefox fails to display text legibly that is equivalent to Firefox being unusable. I'm clearly frustrated and it's because I love FIrefox and the ethos behind it all so leaving for Chrome would be very sad indeed! Help and a solution for normal users would be so very much appreciated. Also where can I properly lodge this issue with peeps who fix things? There are issues of this kind going back years and for both Windows and Mac Systems so it's not a one-off problem but a recurring one! Hi I'm on Ios I forgot a password so went to keychain access where I can normally find saved passwords. It wasn't there. I then went to Firefox preferences and found it there, for copying. There was no password required. That means if I leave my computer on and someone comes past, they can look at saved passwords, and that is a real security issue. I may stop using firefox because of this. Is there a setting to make it more secure? Cheers Martin

When I add certificate exceptions, such as for my router's self-signed certificate, Firefox forgets the exception at seemingly random intervals. Often this happens in several days. In one case it was overnight. This has been going since at least early 2023, probably a year.
In noticed Firefox also forgets settings like "allow popups" set on a site (like on Gmail for example), but not necessarily at the same time as certificate exceptions are forgotten. Other settings don't seem to be changed or forgotten.
These problems occur on different Macs using the same Mozilla account. Refreshing Firefox has made no difference.

Hi, I had been using FF for about 3 years without any issues. Then today, the browser was refreshed updated (I dont know what the exact term is) but since the new browser I have lost all of my history, my saved websites, my extensions etc etc etc . I was under the impression that these can be retrieved, can they as I would really like to be able to reload all of my extensions, but this doesnt seem possible now. Can you advise, why this occured and how I can retrieve the lost information? Thankyou

I cannot paste text (such as texts from Word-docs or links) while using the WhatsApp web application in Firefox. My ad-blocker for Firefox has been turned off, and all settings under the lock-logo are set on default. When I clear cookies and site date, it works for a while, but then stops working. It's quite annoying, since I use WhatsApp a lot, also for work related purposed, sharing links etc all the time.
Any idea what the problem is and how I could solve it?

I have been unable to use Firefox for Gmail for several years now. I use Chrome instead, because whenever I try it on Firefox, I get the following message: Do you really want to use HTML Gmail? You're about to use a version of Gmail designed for slower connections and legacy browsers. To get all of Gmail's features, including inbox categories, images and quick actions, please use the latest version of Gmail (recommended). When I click on the box marked Take me to the latest version, absolutely nothing happens. If I click on the box for the HTML version, Gmail appears, but devoid of anything resembling Gmail as we know it now. Much as I want to use Firefox for everything, I can't, because this is a serious limitation. Am I alone with this problem? It has happened on two different laptops (Macbooks).
