I have spent hours dealing with this issue. I hope someone is able to assist me.

I ran into some issues with Firefox so I went to reinstall it but I am unable to open it. I noticed even after uninstalling it it was still showing up when I do control/alt/del. I have tried to close it but it won't close. I have tried almost every option I can find online to force close it.

My issue is when trying to open my new version of Firefox I am told I have a version running and must close it.

I have tried to delete it I don't know how many times.

I am running Windows 10.

Is someone able to assist me? It would greatly be appreciated.

I hope someone can help me as this is getting very frustrating.

Overnight (I changed nothing, but microsoft rebooted my computer and I don't see any new files installed or updates) Firefox will not work. I can see it start up in task manager (two processes) but within 1 second both are gone. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox. Same problem. This is Windows 10 v 1909. Firefox will not start in safe mode. I cannot find any crash files (in the past month).

Recently I've been having trouble with the dropdown menus in Firefox, such as the History and Bookmarks menu in the tool bar and the right-click menu. Intermittently when I open the menus they close within a second or two without me doing anything. This only happens in the Firefox window, all of my other apps and browsers are fine.

I'm running on a Macbook Pro with OSX 10.15.1 and Firefox 70.0.1. I've restarted Firefox and it fixes the problem for a short time then the problem returns. I've cleared my History, including Caches and Cookies, reinstalled Firefox, restarted my computer and tried disabling my add-ons. The issue keeps coming back.

However, after clicking YES to the Windows10 pop-up prompt to allow Firefox to run as administrator, the Windows 10 pop-up prompt keeps coming up and Firefox will not launch. I cannot uncheck the RUN AS ADMIN from the PROPERTIES window. Help please … ASAP!!

When I try the install I get, 'Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item'.

Foxfire auto updated the program and it lost all bookmarks and even login. The result is I cannot do anything with my computer that needs the internet. I have spent many hours trying the suggested fixes and I cannot get them back and I do not have my password so that I cannot change if for fear I will loose access to the bookmarks. There seems to be no accountability from Mozilla and no way to reach any one. Is anyone else having this problem.

I like Firefox but sad to say that I have increasinlt wasted much time lately with its crashy ways and I made the mistake of using Refresh today.

Now get a message when I try open the app saying "copy of firefox is already open" which it is not true and it is not showing as running on the system.

I have tried reinstalling and it makes no difference.

I dont have an IT engineering degree but how do I fix this before I just give up and walk away? Thanks.

firefox will not even start and stay up. i can hardly even get the crash message up and the widow goes away.

firefox just crashes before its had a chance. downloaded new and same thing happens. a crash report comes up but i can't get the report written before its gone.

installed new version of mozilla. still persists

so i followed the prompts form here, "You should copy the Report IDs for submitted crash reports (they start with bp-) to your support question in the Community Support forum."

and i get this, Crash ID: bp-74f92cba-0ebf-43ba-a7bc-2a1871171126

I am stuck using v 64.0.2, Firefox 65 is unuseable.

Symptoms with v65:

Intermittently does not start, hit icon again then loads but doesn't connect. Very slow when it loads. firefox.exe does not unload from memory, has to be shut in task manager

What I have tried so far;

FireFox refresh. unstall / reinstall uninstall uBlock Origin sfc /scannowall uninstall Avast uninstall VPN Delete all firefox files on system disk + delete all registry entries then reinstall. Install from full version .exe Removed VPN (Private Internet Access) Updated Windows and any and all drivers.

What am I missing ?

I had Firefox 62.0.2 running on my Mac, with extensions like Ad Blocker and Translations, but as it was real real slow, I had asked to run without extensions, and the next time it responded with the "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." so I had followed all the advice published on the www, but after 2 days, found none of the answers and suggestions is working or is applicable, so I had implemented few removals and new installations of the application - but, always getting the same famos ”Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." and A Freeze during the "verification of firefox.app" each time, on completely new installation!

In fact, the Firefox/extensions folders were never created on my Mac (On new install, as well) but the application was working for a long time, and there was/is a Mozilla folder which seems to hold my Chrome (add-ons) but no Firefox folder exists on this and my other Mac in the Library/Application Support.

I even removed my Chrome and reinstalled it to see if it can be done, and there was no problem in new Chrome installation - as it is with Firefox 62.0.2

When I tried to start Firefox after it had crashed i got the "Your profile cannot be loaded" error. I to reinstall it but the error persisted. I then googled and found that you could remove profiles.ini and ~/.cache/mozilla/. I've removed both of these as well as reinstalling Firefox multiple times.

But it still show the error message. It even "spread" to Thunderbird.

I'm using macOS Mojave 10.14.

I noticed that firefox stays in memory after I close it. In fact, If I open and close firefox 10 times, ten processes are shown in memory, each consuming around 100Mb.

I'm using Windows 7 in my corporate computer and I have been using Firefox 65.0.1 x64. I've tried to use it in safe mode (no add-ons) and problem persisted. I uninstalled it, deleted all Mozilla data in AppData and ProgramData and reinstalled it fresh. The problem persisted.

Then I installed the 32-bit version of Firefox and the problem is no more. Is it a bug that has to be fixed or some setting that shoudn't be enabled?

why does firefox keep updating when I start it

When ever I restart firefox I get a box saying updates are being installed. When it is done firefox starts up and runs fine.

Hi all. Seems like after updates, my computer slows down. It has become so recognizable, I know when the registry errors appear, as my computer performance falls off. I must use Reginout Registry cleaner, and CC Cleaner to restore performance. Along with any FireFox updates, my bookmarks have all been deleted many times over. I no longer attempt to re-install, as they continually get deleted, and so simple fix is available to me that I can understand. Thank you.

Failed to read configuration file

We are currently having to role back to FireFox ESR 52.9 from the latest Quantum build of FireFox 60.3.0. Due to the fact that this version utilizes WebGl 2. Our older systems will not render one of the educational games we utilize in the our School District any longer due to the fact that Quantum uses WebGl 2 instead WebGl 1. We have tested and verified that ESR 52.9 renders the game properly.

I have been trying to disable the automatic update in utilizing the user.js file and the cfg file. The computers are apart of the domain. From what I have read only new user profiles will get the new user.js settings while all existing profiles will retain the old settings so we plan on reimaging these computers so all existing profiles will be wiped.

I have also seen users block the updates by changing the Host File which we will not do. Some sites state create a profile folder in the defaults folder other show place the user.js file in the pref folder. So I am lost at this point. I have followed this guide as well:

I have placed the 00_admin-prefs.js with the exact settings shown and have the mozilla.cfg file in the same folder as the js. both are in the defaults\pref

When trying to run FireFox I am am not getting:

Failed to read the configuration file. Please contact your Administrator. (I am the Admin). My domain creds give me admin privileges on all computers.

I know this folder also holds the channel-pref.js so I am not sure if I can add what I need to that file.

If someone would please help me determine what is going on. Why wont firefox copy the either a user.js file or utilize the cfg file I created to each new profile that gets created when logging into the computer.
