This issue has arisen on Firefox for Linux Mint (my current version is 123.0 (64bit)). I like Firefox, and I like its bookmarks toolbar, and have used it for many years, but there seems to be a new bug introduced today:- The bookmarks toolbar is present and correct when I start Firefox, but now it disappears as soon as I select any bookmark, or if I enter any web address or if I open a new tab. The [View >Toolbars > Bookmarks Toolbar > Alway Show] option is already selected, but the toolbar is no longer visible. If I click on it again, the bookmarks toolbar reappears (or I can restart Firefox, and this will also restore the toolbar). But the toolbar now disappears as soon as I use the browser in any way, and so is currently not really of practical use, as it needs constant restoring. Hope you can help resolve this. Hi, my bookmarks toolbar doesn’t show when I launch Firefox. They always use to. When I click on View>Toolbar>Bookmarks Toolbar>Always Show - the Bar shows. When I click on any bookmark the bar disappears. If (in new window) I click on View>Toolbar>Bookmarks Toolbar>Always Show - the bar appears, when I then open new tab it does not show on new tab and when I click back to previous tab bookmarks are gone.

I have restarted W10 PC, no change.

Something went wrong w/ the mouse, some of my tags disappeared & wasn't able to recover them via Ctrl+Z, so I decided to perform my 1st [Restore] (never had to do 1 before), since I had just recently done an [Export Bookmarks] & a [Backup]. Everything seems to have gone Ok, except that for every tag, all of the bookmarks listed under the [Name] column are duplicated. When I right-click & [Show In Folder], they both show in the same folder. When going onto their folder, they are only shown once, so there are no duplicates there. When I attempt to [Delete] 1 of the 2 duplicate entries they both get [Deleted], so I can only conclude that they are 1 in the same. But the question remains, "How can I fix this duplicate condition?"

Another related & interesting behavior is that, from any bookmark folder where you can clearly see there are no duplicated bookmarks, when you do a [Search] from the top-right-hand search-box, the "results" are also "duplicated", although you might need to sort them by clicking on the [Name] column control. So, I can go to any bookmark folder & clearly see that there are no duplicate bookmarks, but when you do a [Search], that's when you get duplicate entries. That leads me to believe that this is the result of the [Search] function, & thus for some odd reason the [Search] is generating "duplicate entries". And then perhaps, both the [Tag]s & the [Search] function are related.

Also, this "duplication" does not happen on newer added bookmarks, after the [Restore] was executed, & it's only a phenomenon that affects those bookmarks that were saved by the Bookmarks' Library [Backup] function, & thus this anomaly was introduced by the [Backup].

Actually, I just realized the problem is more complicated than I thought. The reason any search results in "duplicate bookmarks" is because there are 2 sets of folders, 1 set above the other, & if you don't scroll down all the way you won't see it. So that's why there are actually "2 Sets Of Bookmarks", because there are "2 Sets Of Folders", 1 above the other. The problem is that when you delete any "Duplicate Bookmark" you delete them both, & not just 1 of the 2 bookmarks.

I wonder if it would work, to "Delete All Bookmarks" & then do a [Restore]?

Could "Mozilla Support" answer that?

Don't know why every time I attempt to [Post A Reply] & get an "Error",... So I'm going to post my reply right here,...

Fix: (2024-02-19) Of course, I did some testing before I concluded what was the best approach, but since I noticed all of the "Bookmarks Folders" were duplicated under [Bookmarks Menu], an easy fix is to go to the "bottom duplicated folder", right on top of the [Other Bookmarks] folder, & "Select It" (by clicking on it) & [Delete] it (w/ the [Delete] key on your keyboard). Do this 1 by 1, until you reach the "bottom folder" of the bookmarks' folder you certainly don't want to delete. Close Firefox & then reopen it - to make sure Firefox takes care of any garbage-collection. Then do your Bookmarks' Library [Export Bookmarks To HTML] followed by a [Backup], & you are good to go.

Actually, I don't know what introduced the error. Don't know if it was Firefox's [Restore] function, or it could have been me (by accident) w/ some "unnoticed & unexpected" move of the mouse/trackball, which accidentally duplicated all of the folders w/o me noticing, & that is why all of the "Bookmarks" were "duplicated".

When I save new bookmarks I can't find them to open them. The list of folders I see in the "Choose . . ." selection is different from the list of folders l see when trying to open a bookmark. The bookmarks seem to be saving in one list but opening from a different list. How do I replace the list Firefox opens bookmarks from with the list the new bookmarks are saved in?

The right click on a Folder on the Bookmarks Toolbar and choosing Sort by name stopped working. Please, fix it.

Hi, Folks. When I open "manage bookmarks" (Library), why does it always open at "other bookmarks"? This is at the very bottom of the alphabetical list (and empty) so I always have to scroll back up to the top. I've got a lot of bookmarks, so this is extremely irritating. How do I change this? I've searched for an answer. The only likely solutions suggest removing the "other bookmarks" folder, but the description of how to do that doesn't work. Nowhere can I find a "remove other bookmarks" option. And the delete option is greyed out.

I don't necessarily need to hide or remove it, as long as I can get the bookmarks manager/Library to open at the top, ie. "Bookmarks Menu".

I thought I had two different accounts. Home, with my personal email and work, with my work email. My work computer crashed a few months ago, and out IT department was able to recover all my bookmarks, but it wasn't easy, so I was told. I decided to do what I do at home and that was to create an account for work, which I did. I now have an account for home with it's own bookmarks, and email, and a work account with it's own bookmarks and totally different email. I recently got a work phone. In the process of setting it up I synced it up with my work account. when I came home tonight I got online and all my work bookmarks were on my home computer. How did this happen? Now I don't have my home bookmarks. I tried signing out and signing back in with my home account, but no luck. This is very frustrating especially since they are two totally different accounts. SO, how do I get my home bookmarks back on my home computer? Thanks

Is it possible to combine history/bookmark files? Firefox has truncated my "History" to 15 days and the only option I see to get elder entries is to combine a backupped history file with the current one. An easy-to-use tool for this task would be welcome. I did not change my config options after the update to 121.0.1 (64-Bit) (Windows 10pro) but I think I had the total history (from years) before the update. I am a computer technician currently trying to write a small python script that will clear a users cache, cookies, and history in Firefox on a Mac.

From what I can tell, both the history and bookmarks for a user is saved in one file named "places" (specifically under "/Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/[jargon].default-release/places.sqlite")

Is there a way to clear just the history for a user, that doesn't go through the browser GUI? I would really like to avoid mixing CLT with Selenium or something of that sort with python.

I accidentally deleted the blue star on one of my book-marked items and am struggling to get it back. Its very useful so i can see immediately if somethings already been bookmarked. Plus I could remove easily and/or put into other folders. All solutions appear to be to go to customize firefox and to drag and drop in some bar at the top of the page BUT when i do this it STILL doesn't come back. HELP!!! (Please explain in total laymens terms and don't nauseate me with technolingo.)

I installed firefox on a new pc and after loggin in and syncing my account all my pinned sites on the firefox homepage disappeared. Is there any way i can get them back?

The computers bookmarks after September 28 and before December 1 2023 are missing as well as the internet history in the mozilla browser only. I see no possible way of restoring them. I see no way to contact mozilla directly about this either.

Exported a bookmarks html file from Mac (Sonoma OS) and tried to import it in a computer running Zorin (linux) 17. The file can be found, but when I click it, I am told there are no bookmarks therein. If I open the HTML file it's all there. Full of bookmarks. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for reading.

Why on my new Windows 11 laptop I can only see 42 bookmarks and they are not alphabetized whereas on my Windows 10 desktop I stopped at 100 and I was only up to the G's and they are alphabetized? Is there any way to fix this?

Using the menu line, if I click Bookmark>bookmark current tab, it used to bring up a box where I could edit the tab name and location of where to save that tab. Now, in Dec 2023, it bookmarks it but does not bring up this box. In order to see where the bookmark is, I have to again select Bookmark, EDIT this bookmark. Is there a setting I need to now adjust to bring up that box when bookmarking for the first time? I have W10 and updated Firefox.

I found how to backup and transfer my normal bookmarks, however I really need to backup and transfer my bookmark toolbar, specifically on the Mac version. I can only find the PC version instructions and they don't seem to translate between OS's.

I've used Firefox forever, have a lot of bookmarks, when searching bookmarks max 9 results display. Usually can finally find by adding search criteria, but getting hard to find. Is there a way to return more results in a search keywords than 9? Cannot find an option to to that. Thanks.

I'm using a new PC with Windows 11 and find that I, inadvertently close Firefox with 16-20 open tabs. Most of the time when I reopen FF, the tabs are still there, as expected. Sometimes, the browser opens with just a new home page and the pinned and other tabs have closed. I can sometimes see the 16ish tabs in history and reopen them. More recently, I find that they are not in history as a number of tabs so I have to set them up again. This rarely happened on my old PC and if it did I would have bookmarked a group of open tabs that I used regularly.

The failsafe FF General setting is as follows: Startup, Open previous windows and tabs.

I don't know how I can stop losing my open Tabs but if I was able to bookmark all the open tabs to be used in case of a problem I would feel more secure.

How do I bookmark ALL or several my open tabs?
