An error occurred during a connection to www.academia.edu. Invalid OCSP signing certificate in OCSP response. (Error code: sec_error_ocsp_invalid_signing_cert)

   The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
   Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem. Alternatively, use the command found in the help menu to report this broken site.

Hello Lee_CO, be sure you have in Firefox button > Options > Options > Advanced > Encryption > Validation > UNCHECKED both :

  • When an OCSP server connection fails, treat the certificate as invalid

and

  • Use the Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) to confirm the validaty of certificates

check also if your security software blocks the access.

I don't think disabling strict OCSP checking is good advice.

The problem with www.academia.edu may be a temporary failure, so just try again later.

Temporarily disabling strict OCSP checking may be a temporary workaround, but I'd not recommend to leave it permanently disabled.

I appreciate the thought. I am concerned about security, so I would prefer not to disable OCSP checking. This is a site I use regularly - and I can get to it via internet explorer, but prefer Firefox. What was interesting was that I could find no command in the help menu to report a broken site - only a forgery. Thanks for the responses.

I don't think it would make much sense to report a broken site to Mozilla.
Check if there is a webmaster email contact or something like that to report it to academia.edu. It's their OCSP server which is broken, not Firefox.

I have the same problem too.. went to ver 30, no fix, deinstalled, installed version 28, same problem - back to ver 30. Microsoft IE has no problem with the site.. Site is Support at Netgear.. Seems they should be on top of this stuff, so I suspect it is Firefox..
