Made the unwise decision looking for a coupon to download a bar. Canceled before it finished .. went into computer and deleted. Everything there on my page except the browser window/bar My page is I think an AOL Firefox page. When I turn on computer normally I have a big search engine in the middle which I ignore. I go to browser and start www.aol (never have to finish..drop box has log in..click)& Huffington post comes with email available. Have my news & then go to email. I like that! Now NO browser window!! To get to email had to go to history and find past & update! Clicked on browser control...warnings & error! How do I fix this? Not tech y so please easiest fix?! Windows 7...apparently Firefox auto took me to 25.0.1. Normally have only good things to say...this was my doing...hope you all can help me easily undo!!

Cor-el...You are a genius! Thank heaven a simple fix for me. I pushed the F11 button button before dinner...nothing. After dinner... refreshed & ready to tackle again. I went to support via clicking on your email at bottom...then clicked on site you highlighted to see if I missed something. No ..just the same as you explained. BUT I looked at questions alongside your message in support to see if they shed any other light. The last question told a women how to make something disappear...then told her to go to view and bring things back. I wasn't sure but thought if I could get the F11 to work I would click on view and see if any help there. I had no return arrows so had to go from AOl e-mail page to support and back again via windows I could toggle and bring up at the top. I pressed F11 hard and voila! The menu bar came back...so I went to view. And you know the answer...clicked on toolbars & the navigation toolbar was not selected! Clicked and I am up and running again! Thank you for your directive help. Thankful I do not have problems like all others who seem to have more difficult problems. I have learned a lot through this...mostly that I have no basic knowledge of this amazing machine. How I have managed all these years with so little skill is a wonder. Thank you again! Andydandy

I'm not sure what you are seeing.

Do you still have toolbars visible?

Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.

You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

You can try to create a new profile or reset Firefox.

When you reset Firefox then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, form data) is automatically imported and the current profile folder will be moved to the desktop to an "Old Firefox Data" folder. Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, prefs) that you have made are lost and need to be redone.

It is possible to recover more data from the old profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.

Thank you for response! I have taken the picture & now will add to this hopefully!(learn something new everyday..never noticed that button.).di Hope you can see OOPs, no u can't. I'll try copy and paste. Didn't work.

Now this appeared...I'll send & check back. But can't do more tonight..have grandson receiving his Eagle Scout badge in ceremony tomorrow..big deal. Check in Monday...hope u can see! Thanks ever so much..until Monday!

Looks that you have hidden the Navigation Toolbar.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.

  • Firefox menu button > Options
  • View > Toolbars (press F10 to display the menu bar)
  • Right-click empty toolbar area

Use Toolbar Layout (Customize) to open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.

  • if missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
  • if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar setup

Well now I have lost my Firefox emblem, file, edit, history, etc. & most important can't click on help or settings because all is gone! I was able to get into mail before by going to history and finding AOL. Now I can click at top and still have open windows at top and one is AOL...but if lose that & I'm really lost!! When on AOL there is only that page...nothing else. At some point yesterday I clicked on settings (I think) & somehow stumbled on page that said the following... Config Proxies to access (something) then boxes I'll list not marked but one marked. no proxy...auto detect proxy...manual proxy config (Use system proxy was checked) then many many things with boxes not filled in...like HTTP,SSI,FTP, Socks host...below that socks v5 checked. Then a box that said above no proxy for...inside said, local host 127.0.0.1 Below box it said Example: Mozilla.org.net.nz or maybe mz...192.168.l.0/24 Then an unchecked box saying:proxy config URL:

I am truly afraid to touch anything but what do I have to lose now...guess nothing. Have read all the problems everyone is having..whats up with all that!! Read somewhere that if I had an AOL proxy setting I have to un-install Firefox & start over. Honestly that is beyond me...my son first installed everything on computer when new. Apparently I had checked for firefox to auto update... knew there were problem's with this...or maybe I just got tired of them telling me & did it myself. Where do I, a novice, go from here? I gathered I caused this myself when I tried the d___ bar for coupons. This is when everything happened. Should I go to one of those free places to check for malware? Must go now but will check for response later aft. Thank you for trying to help me!

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).

If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top of the screen to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.
Click the Maximize button (top right corner of the Navigation Toolbar) to leave full screen mode or right-click empty space on a toolbar and choose "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press the F11 key.

You can check for problems caused by a corrupted localstore.rdf file.
