How to save passwords after you've said "no" to the prompt, or add a password to password manager.
When prompt to remember a password and selecting "Never remember password for this site", there's no option to coming back and adding the site to remember, if you selected no, previously.
I've been searching, researching and trying EVERY solution offered to fix this issue with Firefox, from users, staff and contributors. After exhausting all options I've come to a conclusion that there are NO fixes for this problem, short of uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox. If so, the developers are giving out the fix(secret). Older solutions don't work with the current version I'm having problems with(22.0).
Under the options--->security--->The "remember password", is checked(as usual). The exception box is empty. This is not an extension problem. Safe Mode solution doesn't work. The "Bookmarklet" solution doesn't work. Site prohibit is not the case, example: I can have a couple of Yahoo passwords that are remembered, but the one site I choose to never remember, I can't get to remember. Mind you, I've been using/doing this for years with no problem, and I have the same passwords remembered on other computers. This is just one instant I selected no at the time, and now I want to change it.
With all options tried I look forward to a solution, fix, or repair for, said problem. Thank You!

- Go to Tools > options > Security
- open the listbox Exceptions
The site, you are looking for, should be in this list
You didn't read all of my post. I included, that the Exceptions box is empty.

- search the site you're looking for.
- when it shows click the result, hit forget about this site
Yeah, I already tried going through the "about:" config's. It appears that no matter how you set/reset them, it doesn't work or the browser simple ignores it.
i dont mean about:config i mean about:permissions. and follow the instructions above
Dude! That's what I meant. Doesn't work! I went through ALL of the "about:'s" including permissions
can you make a new profile and start over again if that works you can transfer some data to the new profile.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode (Never Remember History).
- Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
- Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
Well, I was looking for a more simpler way of finding this solution, and leaving that as a "last ditch effort" sort of thing. I'm really curious to why the password manager isn't that manageable, as to configuring the url's and/or passwords on a individual basis.
Also, the browser is never ran in Private. I address this in past solutions

This is how I managed this problem 0n 23.0.1: Firefox > Options > Privacy Click "Clear your recent history" Time range to clear = "Everything" Select ALL (check all boxes) Click "Clear Now"
Revisit desired password site and remember that password!
If you select "No" to the prompt to store a new name and password then you create a block exception.
You should see this block in "Tools > Options > Security: Passwords > Exceptions"
Otherwise you can check the permissions of this domain on the about:permissions page.
Using "Clear Recent History" and remove the "Site Preferences" should be sufficient if you decide to go that path.
I have a similar problem but mine was caused by removing a saved password by going into Option/Security/Saved Passwords/Remove.
I figured it would ask me if I wanted the site's login and password to be saved and i could start afresh with that site, but it won't ask the question, and it frustrating needing to type my login and password into the system i use 10 times a day.
Can a contributor here advise what steps i take to have Firefox prompt me again.

Note that websites may be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving and filling the name and password.
You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox save names and passwords and other form data.
You can check if there are entries in the password manager with an empty user name. Make sure that you haven't saved multiple (uppercase, lowercase) versions of that name and password. Remove saved Password(s):
- Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"
You can inspect and manage the permissions for all domains on the about:permissions page or for the domain in the currently selected tab by clicking the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location bar and "More Information" to open "Page Info" and go to the Permissions tab.
