Hi jcit89, after further testing, I think there is a problem specific to Facebook (I only checked the home page). I only discovered this after using Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page bypassing cached files.

If I set layout.css.devPixelsPerPx=1.25, then I have to zoom down twice (Ctrl- twice) and hard reload the page (Ctrl+Shift+r) in order to fix the layout.

If I set layout.css.devPixelsPerPx=1.0 AND use Facebook without ANY zoom, then there is no problem after a hard reload. However, using zoom also breaks the layout. I think this might be a new issue.

Firefox on Windows is now following display scaling options which may render text larger on high resolution displays. You can adjust your screen resolution. To modify it do the following:

  • Type about:config into the Firefox address bar and tap on the Enter key.
  • If the warning This might void your warranty appears, click I'll be careful, I promise.
  • Search for layout.css.devPixelsPerPx

  • Double-click on layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to modify its value. The default is -1.0 in Firefox 22 and above. Change it to 1.0 to make it work like in previous Firefox versions.

If necessary, further adjust the value in 0.1 or 0.05 steps. Use values between 1.0 and about 0.5 to reduce elements in size. Use values greater than 1.0 to increase size. For example, a value of 1.25 will increase font size to 125% to accommodate the default DPI setting in Windows 8. Double check the value that you enter. Setting a too small value will make everything disappear and a too large value will blow things up.

If web pages still need to be adjusted then you can look at the Default FullZoom Level or NoSquint extension.

To adjust the font size for the user interface, you can use the Theme Font & Size Changer extension.

Thank you.

i shouldnt have to download an add on or change anything in developer settings in order to enjoy firefox....

this helped with text but not the scaling of the images and etc....

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

Thank you.

it is normal in safe mode, but the only add on i have is ad block plus, and ive had ad block plus before this problem began.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information such as bookmarks and history Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

  • You can easily reinstall Adblock Plus.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

everything is still huge, default zoomlevel addon helps but it is very annoying to have to set the zoom for every page every time i visit it....

  • You can try to reset the zoom level to do this press Ctrl and 0 at the same time.

holding down ctrl and using the scroll wheel on my mouse helps, but as i said, i have to do this everytime i visit a page, very annoying.

To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

ive also tried this....several times....i really dont want to go back to google chrome because tabs dont load properly, but this is just as annoying.

Sorry you're having troubles with the DPI feature, can you create a new Firefox Profile just to test this out.

And if it resovles you can transfer old bookmarks etc to the new profile.

i really have to go through all this crap because you guys messed something up in an update? yikes.

Have you just made the new profile? That may resolve your problem.

Actually this is good for high resolution screens and the visually impaired, this should had actually been in FIrefox years ago, can you give me a screenshot of the problem.

wellim not visually impaired, if that were the case their should be an option for that, not just defaulted into the do i take and save a screenshot?

  • and yes your point is valid, but im not a developer.

understood, and i appreciate you taking your time to help, just very frustrating.
