Hi dan12345,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with triple-clicking to select the entire paragraph, as configured in your about:config page.

I have tested this on my Firefox 21.0 version, and the behavior worked correctly.

What happens when you set the value to false? The behavior when that value is set to false, is that the entire line should be selected. If only the word is selected whether the value is set to TRUE or FALSE, then that probably means that the triple-click is not being registered correctly.

I found this link that may help you with testing double-clicking and triple-clicking behavior.

Thanks!! - Ralph

When I select it to false it still only highlights one word. I want to to highlight the whole paragraph like its supposed to why is it doing this??

And how do I fix this... ?

I tested that site you linked and it still only highlights one word for what ever reason when the about config is set to false and true.....

Dude, can you please respond a little quicker....

I tried resetting firefox and is still doesn't work............

Hi dan1234,

Please understand that the Firefox support provided in these forums is done mostly by volunteers and contributors in the community, free of charge, who do so in their own free time.

Although we strive to resolve everyone's issue in a timely manner, we cannot guarantee that this will always happen. Therefore, your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated. ;)

As I mentioned in my previous post, the behavior for triple-click works perfectly fine on my Firefox 21.0, in both my Mac and my Windows 7 machines. The behaviors also work as expected when I have that setting turned off (the line is selected), and when I have it turned on (the whole paragraph is selected).

My next thought process, is that for whatever reason, the third-click from your mouse is either not being processed by your machine.

As a troubleshooting step, please attempt to triple-click on a text editor program, like Microsoft Word or Notepad. What happens?

If the entire line or paragraph is selected on those programs, then there is a problem with Firefox recognizing the third click, for whatever reason, and we can further investigate it. If only one word is selected on those programs when you triple-click, then it is a general problem with your mouse or operating system recognizing the third click. In this case, you should attempt to use a different mouse, or investigate the mouse options in your operating system.

We'll wait for your reply so that we can attempt to investigate this issue.

Thanks!!

- Ralph

ive tried IE, Chrome, Opera it all works there and word.

I don't understand what the problem is because I have never had a problem with this before.

It just happened all of a sudden like a few days ago.

Does double-clicking work like it should to select a word or two words when you click the space between two words?

double clicking a word or between two words works and it just highlights one word or a hypenated word

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

You saying just use a different account to access firefox when I want to...?

This problem should be a lot easier to fix than all of that.. I just cant seem to figure it out..

I uninstalled firefox and reinstalled it and it still is messed up what the hell is that about??

Did you try a new Firefox profile?

Yeah I tried a new profile and it still failed to highlight anything other than one word..

What the hell is going on I don't understand this crap at all..

Why is it doing this? Is there a phone number for technical support I couldn't find any on the website..

You think if I completely uninstall it and remove the cookies, favorites, all that stuff it will work or this problem something so big that there isn't anything I can do to fix this......

Do you think it is a problem with a tool bar or bad or malicious add on thing im my about:config or something..

I disabled and removed all the extensions and addons..

I res installed firefox removing all cookies, bookmarks, and everything and the fucking triple click stuff still only highlights one god damn word...

What is going on?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Did you try to boot Windows in Safe Mode?

This is not likely a cookie issue and a new profile would probably only work if an extension is causing it or if there is a problem with the prefs.
It is either a problem with the mouse driver that isn't reporting the triple-click properly or with other software on the computer.

There are some things that can survive a reset, a new profile, and a complete uninstall/reinstall: externally installed plugins. Firefox finds those by scanning the Windows registry, and they are not deactivated in Firefox's Safe Mode.

I looked at your system details, but I can't tell what half of your plugins are because the forum didn't pick up the whole names. You can generate a paste-able list on my test page here: http://dev.jeffersonscher.com/jstest.asp. Alternately, you could disable all nonessential plugins (e.g., everything but Shockwave Flash) and see whether that helps at all.

Already tried sade mode.. didn't work.

And it can't be the drivers because the triple click has NO problems at all with word, IE, chrome, Opera notepad.... etc......

Also how does this happen all of a sudden out of the blue??

I also diabled all the extensions addons etc.. I'm not sure what that test page does.. at all?

How did you see my system details?

Hi dan12345, you wrote:

To the right of your original question is a link for More System Details. This is gathered when you submit your post. My test page pulls a complete description for each plugin. You have to scroll down to see it. The reason this is possible is that scripts can read out the names and versions of all your active plugins (not extensions or themes, just plugins).

so what can i do to fix this..?

is there anything I havent tried. I feel like I need to bring this into someone or something otherwise ill have to switch to chrome...

Did this ever work properly for you in a previous Firefox version?

You can try the Firefox 22 beta version to see if that version still shows this problem.
