Can't find location of temporary files Cache Service?

I've done some research. I know about (about:config) and (about:cache). Maybe the weirdest thing is that (about:cache) shows nothing about where the temporary files cache is located. List Cache Entries shows all of the temporary files, but still no clue about where those files are located? [since "List Cache Entries" is under "Memory cache device", that's not helpful.]

I'm trying to move the temporary files cache to drive F. Finding their current location might help.

Please advise. Thanks.

Hi,

The current disk location would be usually shown beside Cache Directory: below Disk cache device under Information about the Cache Service on the top of the page. The default location would be overturned by the manual browser.cache.disk.parent_directory setting. So you could also check the manually specified location, if the manually set location is not being shown in Cache Directory.

about:config Entries

Under "Information about the Cache Service"

Memory cache device...

Offline cache device...

There is no "Disk cache device". Maybe I disabled it, but for some strange reason it's showing as enabled.

Thanks for the setting quotes.

I might do a clean install of the newest version, and start over with the settings stuff. Or at least clean install it to check out what the settings should look like. I make backup copies of the Windows drive C, so it's no big deal.

The UI preference and status is shown in Tools (Alt + T) > Options > Advanced > Network, under Cached Web Content.

You can try to Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults: and Make Changes and Restart in the Safe Mode start screen.

If the issue persists, you can then consider the Reset Firefox feature via Help (Alt + H) > Troubleshooting Information.

(To revert to the previous profile you were using, close the new profile (i.e. exit Firefox), start Firefox and choose the Default User profile. While the Profile Manager is open, you can also delete the newly reset profile (the one containing random numbers), or the former profile, as the case may be).

Make sure that you do not use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the "Cache".

i have the same problem. Tried the Browser.cache.disk.parent_directory opties but does not help. Got more advice?

Thank you.

Did you delete the currently used browsing cache as shown on the about:cache page?

What is the value of the browser.cache.disk.parent_directory (case sensitive) String pref on the about:cache page?

Make sure that the specified folder exists.

What do you mean by: "Did you delete the currently used browsing cache as shown on the about:cache page?"

The value points towards another drive and folder. And yes they exist, same case and string is like said in the kb-paper.

Regards

The previously used cache may still be active if you haven't removed it manually.

What does it currently say on the about:cache page about the disk cache?

Note that Firefox doesn't use the disk cache if you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the Cache.

Ok i get is. I manually removed the cache.

Like i said the disk and folder names

Has my problem something got to do that i can't lokate my current cache folder? I have no idea where it is. IE is a lot less complicated about it and how to change it.

You should see the location that Firefox uses for the cache on the about:cache page.

On Windows XP the default cache location is in the hidden Local Settings\Application Data folder.
