1)I've unable to merge my old favorites fro IE to my bookmarks. The category is "from internet explorer". Which would be inconvenient ( more clicks) but Ok.

You can move the existing bookmarks out of the "From Internet Explorer" folder to a different folder to see if that makes adding new bookmarks to that other folder work.

And how do I that? Do I cut and paste? Are you able to tell me which of these options I will be able to add bookmarks to? Can I put it into Moxilla firefox? If i do will it transfer it with all the sub folders? thanks

You can open the "From Internet Explorer" folder and select all items via Ctrl+A and copy or cut them to the clipboard and paste them in another folder.

I transferred "from IE" to" firefox mozilla".because you didn't tell me I couldn't rather than merging with firefox Mozilla it's now just another folder under "firefox mozilla" entitled again "from internet explorer" again not my preference. when I tried to put in an addition to the "from internet explorer" to the 'sports" subfolder. I'm unable to. so I still can't do it. What do you suggest?

Do not copy the "From Internet Explorer" folder itself, but copy or cut the bookmarks and the folders in the "From Internet Explorer" folder.

So highlight "from IE", edit menu select cut and paste it where??? Tell me where' to paste it. What are my choices? Do I highlight the choice and hit Edit" paste." It has about 30 topics. I don't have to do this all separately, right. '

Open an existing folder or create a new folder in the location where you want those bookmarks to appear.

If you want to see those bookmarks on the Bookmarks Toolbar then create them on that toolbar.

If you want to access them via the Bookmarks menu, but do not want them on the Bookmarks Toolbar then create a new folder in the Bookmarks Menu folder and paste the selected and copied bookmarks in that folder.

I want to do it just the way I had it before with my "favorites" menu. I want to click on bookmarks0on the toolbar and have all 50 of my favorites folders come cascading down. WheniI ckick a folder ,I want to see all my favorites from that folder show up on the right. Can this be done.? You seem to be saying this. 'If you want to see those bookmarks on the Bookmarks Toolbar then create them on that toolbar. ' What I'm asking, is that putting them in the "bookmarks" toolbar? I've tried opening the toolbar to paste the contents of ":from IE" with no results!! How specifically do I do that? And then, will I be able to add more bookmarks to it? thank You

You can find a Bookmarks Toolbar folder as one of the three root folders in the Library.
All bookmarks in that folder will appear on the Bookmarks Toolbar.
So create a new folder in the Bookmarks Toolbar folder and name it as you want it to show on the Bookmarks Toolbar.
Then you can paste the IE favorites in that folder and access them by opening that folder on the Bookmarks Toolbar.

One step at a time Corel. So I highlight "from IE" and from the edit menu Copy . Right??? So create a new folder in the Bookmarks Toolbar folder and name it as you want it to show on the Bookmarks Toolbar. How??? Be specific, I click on the "bookmarks toolbar" option. I'm given 2 options 1)most visited and 2) getting started. I'm not shown how to create a folder.Where do I go?

I don't even see your 3 root folders in the library, but if that's not immediately, relevant, lets not even deal with that now.

  1. Create a new folder for the Bookmark that you want to paste in the Bookmarks Toolbar folder
  2. Go to the "From Internet Explorer" folder
  3. Select all the Bookmarks in that folder via Ctrl+A or Organize > Select All
  4. Copy all the selected bookmarks to the clipboard via Ctrl+C or via the right-click context menu or via the Organize menu in the Library
  5. Select the folder that you have created for the new bookmarks in step 1 in the left pane, so you see an empty right pane
  6. Paste the bookmarks that you copied to the clipboard in step 4 in the empty pane

If that has worked the you can remove the "From Internet Explorer" folder if you no longer need it.

1)!Did 1, called it "favorites.' 2)Copy and pasted "from ie' to' favorites.' Is this what you're telling me to do. Copy and paste? 3) now when I highlight" favorites" there's a subfolder entitled "from Ie" Are we on the same page so far? up to step5. Thanks

Step 2 only involves going to the "From Internet Explorer" folder.
Any further actions you need to do to bookmarks in that folder are in step 3 and 4.

Why not just export favourites from IE to an HTML file and import that into Firefox? It will be appended to the Firefox bookmarks.

That importing already has happened as the OP has the "From Internet Explorer" folder.
The problem is to copy or move the imported bookmarks in that folder to a different folder.

That was not the kind of importing I mean. I mean that you can export the favourites from IE to an .html file. Firefox can import that file, and it would not label it as coming from IE, since it would have no way of detecting what the source was.

Thanks for your response finitarry. I can export it a lot of places. The title i.e. "from IE' is not really important either. I have access to my favorites (bookmarks) now.I want to be able to add new favorites. That is key! If exporting them to an .html file will allow me to do that.I'm all for it. But I don't see an option to do that, and I never have done it.. Nor in scrolling around , do I see an "import" option. So you'll have to be specific on how to do it. thanks

Ok, picked "show all bookmarks' top option. Selected From internet explorer" hit Import and Backup, selected "export to html." I assume it is converted. Then imported it. I now have a "bookmarks html file." Now what? thanks

What you imported into Firefox should show up in your list of bookmarks.
