Firefox does not remember window size or position and always opens too big, even after resetting tools and addons in safe mode.

Just in the past two days,Firefox has begun opening almost maximized. Actually, it opens correctly, then resets itself and fills the screen. I've opened it in safe mode, reset the addons and toolbars, completely turned off addons, and still have the problem. This is irritating to the max. I want to see what else is on my screen and change windows at will. I hate having the browser fill the screen. What's baffling is it just started a couple of days ago, and I can't think of any changes that I've made in that time.

I'm running Firefox 4.0.1 and until Stop Autoplay or another add-on that does the same is available with newer versions, this is where I'll stay.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I've already used safe mode to try to fix this problem. It did nothing to help. The first time I opened it in safe mode with all addons turned off. No change. The second time I opened it in safe mode and reset all the addons and toolbars. Still no change. Firefox still opens maximized (well--almost maximized; if I click on the maximize button, it opens a tad larger. Instead of there being 1/64th of an inch left around the window, there's nothing at all.)

I already use the default theme.
