FF Menu Icon missing in Menu Bar

On all my Macs running Mac OS 10.5.8 , the FF Menu Icon disappears from the Menu Bar when a window is opened. If all open windows are closed, the icon returns. Also, if I click on the Apple Menu Icon, the FF Menu Icon returns until I click anywhere in the FF menu bar. This also happens with Thunderbird.
