Why can't I unistall Starfield Zoom 1.1, what is it and why is it auto-installing with a new FF install?? I did not ask for it to be installed, did not download it, did not tell it to, and is it a hack or something?? And why isn't there any explanation of this by Mozilla?? The description of the plugin is "Productivity application zoom extension." Well it's not good enough that I can only DISABLE it, I want it GONE because I didn't authorize this in my browser! And if you can't be helpful or don't know, then would someone PLEASE tell me how I can contact someone at Mozilla who does? Because this forum post will probably never be read by any developer and I think it's a crock of you know what that you can't get better support for something like this and there's almost no information to be found on it.

PS, it is the same regardless if I installed 3.6.3 or 3.5.9.

If you can't uninstall an extension, but only disable it then that extension is installed globally and found via a registry scan or otherwise. You will have to uninstall it via the software that installed that extension.

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_add-ons

On OS X navigate... /Library/Application Support/Mozilla/Extensions

I just deleted the entire extensions folder.

Go to Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Mozilla > Extensions > {ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}

Delete that entire folder! If you look inside of it, you will see it contains another folder called "zoomext@starfield."

For me, this was the only extension stored in the system's library.

All other extensions (that I actually CHOSE to install) are kept in the user's library, not the system's. That is why deleting the extensions folder from the user library doesn't get rid of it.

Also, in case anyone is unaware- The spotlight search will not, by default, return you any results when you search for "starfield" or anything else you're trying to get rid of because these files are automatically set to be invisible.

To really search everything, first begin a search by typing any letter in the spotlight toolbar, then click to show all. On the upper right hand corner of the window that comes up you will see a + sign.

Click once and select "File visibility" then "Visible or Invisible"

Click the + sign again and select "System files" then "are included"

Now you can type what you're searching for and have it actually show up. Just be careful deleting any other previously hidden files… most are usually hidden for a good reason :)

I tried chloe13's suggestion a few different ways and it didn't work. I tried with Firefox both running and not running, setting Starfield Zoom (and the related WBE Paste 1.2) to uninstall on restart, quit Firefox, delete the {ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384} folder, empty trash, restart Firefox... and both extensions still return! I am apparently missing something! Yikes! I have access to free Norton from Comcast - I don't usually like Norton 'cause I feel is is too busy and slows things down, but I'll install it if it will get rid of these extensions!

I don't know how to fix the problem, but I know who is creating it. Starfield is an entity of GoDaddy. Below the Starfield extension you should see a WBE(Web Based Email) paste extension. So I'm guessing all of us have GoDaddy or use the Starfield mail notifier on your toolbar. I tried numerous times to uninstall it for the simple reason it keeps zooming especially in my web based email. I have a feeling uninstalling email notifier will fix it, but I actually like that function. So it it is not a Mozilla problem as much as it is a Starfield(GoDaddy) problem.

Starfield Zoom is not distributed with Firefox. You may have been tricked into installing it. Read the first article below.

I am not an OSX user, but following is some information.
