go to last used tab
Description: I would like to request the addition of a "Go to Last Used Tab" shortcut, also commonly referred to as a "Recall" feature. This functionality is extremely useful for quickly switching between the last two active tabs without needing to cycle through all open tabs.
Currently, I use Ctrl+Tab to cycle through tabs in order and Ctrl+Shift+Tab to cycle in reverse order. While this works, it is not ideal for scenarios where I frequently need to switch between two specific tabs (e.g., tab #25 for monitoring the progress of a web app and tab #129 for working on an email). In such cases, having a dedicated shortcut to jump directly to the last used tab would significantly improve productivity and usability.
Proposed Solution: Add a new keyboard shortcut (e.g., Ctrl+Backtick or a user-configurable option) that allows users to instantly switch to the last used tab.
Benefits:
Reduces the need to manually cycle through tabs, saving time. Enhances workflow efficiency when multitasking across multiple tabs. Aligns Firefox with features available in other modern browsers.
Use Case Example:
I’m actively working on a task in tab #129 (e.g., writing an email). I periodically check the progress of a web app in tab #25. Instead of cycling through tabs using Ctrl+Tab or searching for the desired tab, I could simply press a "Recall" shortcut to toggle between these two tabs instantly.
This feature would greatly enhance the user experience, especially for power users who frequently switch between tabs.

radek11, if you go to Tools menu / Settings then search for "Ctrl+Tab cycles through tabs in recently used order" and enable it, does this give you the functionality that you want?
Note, even with this setting enabled, you can still cycle forwards and backwards through tabs in numerical order by using ctrl+page up and ctrl+page down.
Thank you, I very appreciate your response! Ctrl+Tab with "used order" works as needed, but using the Ctrl+page up and Ctrl+page down is very uncomfortable on my notebook (I have this keys shared with arrows and is it needed to press also Fn button). In both cases, you need at least two hands :). I created the enhancement request (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1958473).
radek11, just thought I'd mention that in the meantime an add-on can give you the functionality that you are after.
Saka Key, for example, lets you define your own custom keys for various Firefox functions.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/saka-key/
Under its "Switch Tabs" section you could define custom keys for moving forwards and backwards through tabs in number order, while continuing to use ctrl+tab to "recall" the previously viewed tab.
Note there are several other add-ons that allow the creation of custom keys besides Saka Key of course, I mention it as it is the one that I am most familiar with.
So add-ons are a possible idea.
