How do I reset Firefox to open with a single page instead of trying to reopen the last pages?

Single page of what exactly? Blank? settings>General> offers 1 choice then >Home>New Windows and Tabs
Settings and home set as suggested above. They have been set that way without change for years. I still get the error message that Firefox cannot open the previous tabs when I reopen Firefox.
