I was having problems with WWF on FB a few days ago. I think it's their problem after I cleared my cache and temp files. But now Firefox won't recognize me and I have to log into all of my programs like it's the first time (i.e., Insta, LinkedIn, etc.)

I want to be able to use Firefox like I did before! Tired of having to re-log-in to programs that I didn't used to have to before I cleared cache, etc.

If you clear cache it removes all the login and you have to relogin again. Only exception is if you enabled AutoFill/AutoSave that might still have the login to refill. So did you use this AutoFill/AutoSave option?

Yes, it is enabled and I have logged into programs with UN and PW. Problem is even though it is enabled, it is NOT remembering the user name and password so I don't understand why.

ok so here some other FAQ on clearing cache and history. Take a look at these other FAQ to see if something wasn't changed to not remember when closing the Browser.

And this last one scroll down to the - How do I clear my history? and check to see if this wasn't set to clear everything cause if it is set it might also clear your login and history.

Detail like websites remembering you and log you in automatically is stored in cookies, so make sure you aren't clearing important cookies. So it sounds that you have removed those cookies and you will have to login gain.

You can use these steps to make a website recognize and remember you.

  • create a cookie allow exception with the proper protocol (https:// or http://) to make a website remember you

You can check that you aren't clearing important cookies.

  • using "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" to clear cookies keeps cookies with an allow exception
    in 102+ version toggling this setting makes changes to the "Clear history when Firefox closes" settings and those settings prevail
  • using "Clear history when Firefox closes" in Firefox 102+ honors exceptions and keeps cookies with an allow exception, previous versions removed all cookies

Make sure to keep the "Site settings".

  • clearing "Site settings" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exceptions for passwords and other website specific data
  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Exceptions"
  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history":
    [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" -> Settings

Thank you and @Dropa! The cookies tab was clicked on and I don't know how! But thanks!
