</p><p>Now that you are familiar with Profiles, I suggest making a copy at every major update - every 4 weeks. That way you'll always have it available and, worst case, you'll only lose a months worth of data. Let's hope you'll never need it, though.

</p><p>Surprise surprise. Opening firefox seems to have activated the new profile.
</p><p>My saved shortcuts are back. My text and google keep notes are back - less the previously saved text.
Looks like my saved bookmarks are back too. Even the problem I had with Amazon is fixed.

When I tried to restart in troubleshoot mode, I kept getting repeat error messages old process still running but not responding.
After terminating the process with program manager, restarting ff came up with the same old process still running. I even shut down completely and cold rebooted but was unable to restart ff.
</p><p>So I did the obvious. Uninstall/reinstall and allowed refresh to defaults.
</p><p>The NEW re-install is now working properly BUT I have lost all my saved shortcuts.
</p><p>There is a file on my desktop 'Old Firefox Data'. Is there a way I can recover those saved shortcuts from that?
