This is a recent problem, in the last few weeks. It makes it difficult to identify which is the genuine website and, therefore, will make scams more likely. For example, if I look up passport applications, I will get lots of websites purporting to do passport applications. Some of these will just charge money, some will steal my personal data but only one www.gov.uk is the correct one but, unless the page shows the URLs, I cannot tell which is www.gov.uk
