Been using FF since 2005ish. (Me 1946) Latest version (90.0.2 (64-bit) annoys me greatly because I can't remove the unwanted 'Pocket' BS. I've followed several online 'advices' on this, including this site, & still it persists.

FF is getting like IE IMO, with all the awkwardness to remove unwanted Bloatware. For an 'Ordinary User'. Could some knowledgeable FF user please explain, in language I can understand, English, but not very Tech Savvy) how I remove Pocket from the browser Thanks.

This Article should be able to help you remove the save to pocket feature. You can also see how to hide pocket recommendations in your new tab page here.

Thanks Scott for your response, but I already tried your suggestion. Does not work for me. If I cannot remove it I don't want FF. Hiding it is simply using my resources, but avoiding looking at them. Not a solution for me.

Me looking at Waterfox currently.

I have never seen pocket. I have the following preference in about:config marked false. Open a new tab and enter about:config in the urlbar. I don't use the new tab page either which may make a difference (I use about:blank). extensions.pocket.enabled

When you disable pocket (about:config => extensions.pocket.enabled = false) then the initialization code isn't run, so there should not be extra memory used or extra time spend when you start Firefox.

  • browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.feeds.section.topstories = false
  • browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.feeds.system.topstories = false

OK. I marked this as 'Solved'. But it isn't actually. When I do a restart the Pocket rubbish re-appears. That's it for me. Firefox is bloated with irrelevant 'additions' & I want no more of it. Years ago I stopped using MS loaded browsers for that reason. Sad to find FF using the same path to mediocrity & irrelevance.
