Is there a way to auto-start reader view when the page is an article?

When I'm browsing articles or news stories or what-have-you on the web, I would like to be able to read the information I came from without all the distracting stuff on the sides and top (or worse, the kind of pop-ups that can't be blocked, because they are JS-generated in the same page). Article mode is great for this, but can I have it automatically enable to help prevent me from distracting myself?

Hi!

I am not aware of an option built-in to Firefox for this. You may find the following add-on useful: Automatic Reader View

I have just tried it with a news article and it did switch it to reader-view, it also has a setting to apply it to all pages. Note that only pages that Firefox is able to present in Reader view will be switched.

Also note that I am not endorsing this plug-in - it is not 'actively monitored' and has not been updated since 2017, but it may achieve what you wish for.
