Restore from e-mail from just an email "file" (10 Gg) downloaded from my gmail account, but I've lost the msf files

I'm not sure what has happened but I seem to have all the data in my gmail account between Jan 2012 and Dec 2016. I may have done this by trying to synch mails with Thunderbird last Nov 2020, and it has deleted the gmail e-mails but I could see them on my offline Thuderbird client email account. I re-synched, and now I have lost them on my local Thuderbird copy also. I have a backup of what appears to be the big data file (no suffix in DOS), but not assocaited msf file. How can re-read and restore the data file of all my email history in my Thunderbird client? Regards Nic Wood

If the 10GB file is an mbox file (with no extension, or the .mbox extension removed after download from Google), you don't need the .msf index file. Copy the mbox into Mail/Local Folders in the current profile, with TB closed, then restart and find the folder under Local Folders in the Folder Pane.

Help/Troubleshooting, Profile Folder, Open Folder, to open the profile.
