"VCRUNTIME140_1.DLL is not found"? In that case, I would install both 32-bit and 64-bit "Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019" downloads, (x86: vc_redist.x86.exe and x64: vc_redist.x64.exe) from https://support.microsoft.com/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads

I don’t actually know what any of that means or how to do it. I’m a bit frustrated that I can’t get help directly through Firefox so someone can walk me through it. Maybe I’ll just use a different browser.

hello cl,

what version of windows are you using and bit size?

also, has your o.s. downloaded all the updates or has the update feature been disabled?

I have Window 10 but have no idea what bit size or how to find it. I also don't know how to tell if the updates have been downloaded or any of that. It would be super helpful if Firefox had tech support for people like me who don't understand tech. This is super frustrating.

hello cl,

okay, then maybe FireFox is not the issue but something by the operating system may be causing the issue.

win10 has many more controls in it than previous versions. so i might be worthwhile for use to get to know win10 a bit more.

but in the interim, try using the microsoft browser call Edge, until we can pin point why you are missing files from the o.s.

to get to know more about your o.s. and updates and the what-nots, please enter the term the term below into the windows search field, which is available when you click the windows start button.

then you will go into an area where system with sections of info and controls that can be viewed and modified/toggle/tweaked

1st thing to do is to click on the check for downloads button under the "update security" section.

if indeed you are supposed to have that visual studio file, then it should be automatically downloaded to your system by microsoft servers.

let us know on your experience with updating your system via the above.

Here is my experience with that annoying message. I got it after installing SnapCamera, you know, so I can be a talking potato during Zoom meetings. Very important.

I found a dedicated page to get the latest installers from Microsoft:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0

I downloaded and ran both the 32-bit and 64-bit installers in the first section of that article ("Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019"). Then I restarted Windows and all was normal again.

I don't know whether 64-bit users need the 32-bit install, but Windows didn't object when I ran it (I ran it first, then 64-bit second).

Hope that works for you.

~dbben, when I entered "support" it took me to options for support assistant and it doesn't show me update security, just updates. I am probably in the wrong area.

hello cl,

sometimes, operating systems are slightly skewed between machines.

try in the search field:

i have attached a pic of what should pop up on your side. But ignore my dark background; as its easier on my eyes.
