New Windows update came through about 15 minutes ago. Firefox is working fine now. I'll save those notes in case I have a problem like that again. I checked a couple hours earlier and there were Windows no updates. Thank you.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Is this an issue with opening external links in Firefox or does this also happen if you open a new tab in Firefox ?

1. I have the same issues in safe-mode.

2. No issue with opening a new tab.

Now I have a new problem I didn't have yesterday. When I click on tabs/sites that I already open, they now have to refresh themselves.

I think the tabs already opened and refreshing themselves problem may have been because of doing safe-mode on & safe-mode off & Firefox rebooting with all my opened tabs?

Hope no one is getting tired of me but I am trying to describe issues that I see. Anytime I am on a Firefox website and click a Firefox link, the link opens immediately like other non-firefox should but are not.

If you close and restart Firefox then tabs may not have (re)loaded automatically, but are loaded on demand if you select them to speed up the startup. This is quite normal.

So, you only have this problem when you open an external link and Firefox is or isn't running ?

When I use the Firefox browser and click on a link to a a webpage, it takes 10 seconds before the tab loads the page. The tab opens with what looks like old spinning hourglass icon in the left side of the new tab. I am confusing people by adding the little oddities I notice.

When I use Edge browser, I click a link & boom, the tab immediately opens to the webpage. With Firefox the new tab takes 10 seconds to load the webpage, website whatever it's called. Firefox is adding 10 seconds when I click anything. It makes work take a lot longer to do when you have to keep waiting all day long 10 seconds for each page to load. I don't know how else to explain it. At this point Edge is the faster browser.

I've done everything I can except uninstall Firefox, reinstall & hope I don't lose all my settings, add-ons, only to still have an unsolved problem. This started sometime in Dec. I uninstalled everything installed in Dec except the Firefox update.

Would uninstalling FF lose everything? I uninstalled Edge, reinstalled, and I lost no setting, shortcuts, favorites in the customs bar.

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.
