problem deleting bookmark

I have a bookmark on my bookmark toolbar, that when I open the bookmark has no highlighted star to allow me to choose to remove it. I open the entire bookmark list and it doesn't even show in the bookmarks list. How can I delete this off my bookmark toolbar? It's like it doesn't exist but it's front and center showing up. It does work and go to a valid web page. But I don't want it on the toolbar. And can't find a way to get rid of it. I've cleared cache, restarted, updated, etc. Nothing works.

One possible reason for no blue star is if the server redirects the bookmarked address. This can particularly affect older HTTP addresses that are not on HTTPS.

On Windows, you could right-click the bookmark on the toolbar and then click Delete. If you have a one-button mouse, you could try Ctrl+click > Delete. If you do not have a mouse, perhaps a long-press would call up the context menu?

Does that work on Mac?

I'm on an iMac. Still unable to remove it.

re: the https.....the bookmark I need removed is the Comcast Xfinity site and it is showing https in the URL. Should I just delete Firefox completely and then download it again? Will it bring the same problems with it?

Regarding next steps, it depends on how much you have to lose...

Are you able to delete it using the Library window? Either:

  • Bookmarks menu > Show All Bookmarks
  • Command+Shift+B

In the left panel, click Bookmarks Toolbar. Then you should be able to delete individual items from the list on the right.
