Please tell me how to fix ebay.com so it shows up in html. I don't know why that site is the only one that does that but it's strange and unusable like that.

thank you!

Sorry it does NOT show up in HTML it is txt links.

Hi donna23, this could indicate that the style sheets which instruct Firefox on laying out the page are not being loaded.

Have you noticed any secure connection errors in Firefox recently?

Here's an example of the addresses used for style sheets -- they are on a different eBay server:

https://ir.ebaystatic.com/rs/v/kw2xglkz02zqnovh0gatbvmpsmn.css?proc=DU:N

Can your Firefox load that directly? The expected content is a wall of text starting with

body .shpt{top:24px}#gh{*z-index:3}.gh-clearfix:after{content:".";display:block;

If the page can load directly, could you do a reload of the main eBay page bypassing the cache -- either

  • Shift+click the reload button
  • Ctrl+F5
  • Ctrl+Shift+r

Any improvement?

If the page cannot load directly, is there an error message?

Hi Donna, has this issue resolved for you yet? Some other users are finding it linked to the Enhanced Tracking Protection feature.

After much testing, the only way I could break the eBay page was Strict on the Options page, and privacy.annotate_channels.strict_list.enabled to true in about:config (see attached screenshot).

But then it stopped being broken after 10 minutes of testing, so I'm not sure what is going on. Maybe it was a glitch in the files that got updated in the profile I was testing in?

Anyway, if you prefer "Strict" tracking protection but it breaks eBay, could you check this:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste strict_list and pause while the list is filtered

Firefox has a built-in preference named

privacy.annotate_channels.strict_list.enabled

that is normally set to false. Is yours set to true?

Hello The privacy.annotate_channels.strict_list.enabled is set to false.

Sorry not the problem, I get the gut feeling Google Chrome has something to do with this problem. Ever since I installed it Ebay.com stopped working. BUT it works fine on Google Chrome.

Coincidence? I think not... but it may be so.....  :)

Thanks!

Also I the ebay.com link mysteriously stopped working right after I installed Google Chrome.

Coincidence? I think not... well maybe!

Hi Donna, I am not aware of a connection with Google Chrome.

Does it make any difference if you click the purple shield icon while you are viewing the broken eBay page and turn off tracking protection on the site, then reload the page bypassing the cache? Either:

  • shift+click the Reload button on the toolbar
  • Ctrl+F5

You can check the Web Console (Tools -> Web Developer) for messages about blocked content and about the presence of mixed or unsafe content.

You can check the Network Monitor to see if content is blocked or otherwise fails to load.

If necessary use "Ctrl+F5" or "Ctrl+Shift+R" (Mac: Command+Shift+R) to reload the page and bypass the cache to generate a fresh log.

The Shift + reload did not spawn the page
